why is it taking forever for DP review of A7/r?

Not necessarily. I would think the Nikon D4 was a pretty good seller, but DPR never did anything but a preview for it.

They're probably still trying to get used to the new control & menu layout. (I know I am…) ;-)

It takes them a while to write the review, camera hasn't been out that long. I don't think this review has taken any longer than any of the other cameras. I imagine the reviews they are able to launch right away they had production level cameras well before hand. I know A7 was pre-production sample models prior to release so they probably waited to start a full review.

Sorry but if DPreview didn't have a camera months prior to it's release then there is something seriously amiss.

Someone, somewhere has made the decision not to bother, it's as simple as that.

It is puzzling since the Nikon Df came out after the A7r and got a preview and right after that a full review.

Perhaps because the Df doesn't shoot video making it much much faster to review than the Sony. Or priorities.

Its pretty standard for DPReview to take 2-3 months for a review of a new camera.

They have shown they don't want to bow to time pressure. Not sure I agree as the reviews are pretty out of date once they surface but... their call I guess.

I would like the review to include the Zeiss 24-70mm F/4 which isnt due till Feb 2014 .

They are still trying to get the autofocus to lock on the test chart :) I am only kidding, for me both controls, menu and autofocus is great.. The review will be interesting but i already gave The A7 a gold award and 96% score ;)'

cheers

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Actually, it's typical for reviews to come out long after other reviews.

To come with an answer to this camera?

Or might it be that reviewing cameras like this is not the prime goal of this site anymore? Or is it that Sony is paying enough to DPReview? or could it be that they are testing it very good and there will come a great test report for this new camera?

In fact I find the tests of new cameras less and less important. The IQ of all cameras is greater then I need and the rest you can read in all the reviews allready on the internet.

Lets try to make the conclusion of the review and see how good we are at predicting:

Pros:
Small FF camera
Very high IQ both in good and low light
Very good EVF
Lot of customizing controls
Good number of direct controls
Better menu system
Can use allmost all legacy lenses
Hump is very nice ( :) )
Zebra to help exposure
Focus peeking

Cons
AF not class leading
A7r has no hybrid AF system
A7r has no EFC
Battery life is poor
Single SD card slot

Please feel free to make your own conclusion...

There is enough information on the internet by users that a review would not make a difference for me. In fact most of us can predict exactly what will come out in the review of the A7/R.

I also hope they review it with the f4 zoom AND with a decent old manual focus lens.....just to make it a bit different.

Maybe they are having trouble getting it to stay put as staff keep wanting to use it?

Be fair. They are probably going through the normal protracted emotional crisis over whether to get the A7 or the A7r.
