Folks, I wanted to share this post to, first of all, update on my challenges with R5 that have been addressed and also to reflect a bit on why I am using Canon since 2008. My journey with Canon started back in 2008 when I purchased myself a 40D, then I went to 5D MKII, 5D MKIII and a 5 L lenses for landscapes and portraits as these are the two genres of photography that I enjoy the most.
I have been travelling around the world and have been in most awkward situations in Iceland or Pacific North West where I was hit by a huge wave. My Canon gear survived everything. I just developed a habit of relying on my camera and lenses in all conditions.
Then the mirrorless era started. I was still hoping there is going to be a 5D MKV, but as soon as I realised mirrorless is the next thing and it is the new direction, I moved to EOS R5 and a couple of RF lenses, including an amazing RF 85 1.2 L.
To my surprise, I realised that the R5 I purchased had some issues (50+ dead/hot/stuck pixels on the sensor, a malfunctioning joystick and a couple of annoying pixels on an LCD). It is an expensive gear and it can be a little frustrating, as you can imagine. I went to a local service and two of my 3 problems were addressed (back panel was replaced to fix the controller problem and the sensor was mapped to fix pixels problems). I still had the blue pixels problem on the LCD though. I was able to reach out to Canon people directly and the problem was fixed in no time. I have my camera back in perfect shape.
This is why I always trusted Canon. You have an amazing gear, exceptional lenses and a service that you can rely on. Granted, things can happen, but what matters to me is when they do, how they are being addressed.
I only had my camera for a couple of days, so not a lot of pictures taken, but I am going to share the first one I did
More RF L lenses on the way and can't way to master the new R5 camera
Blown away by AF. I could not even imagine that I will be able to nail focus time and time again at F/1.2.
