where to find the F5 manual in PDF?

That's a good question.
I did a search on both the Nikon UK & Nikon USA site but failed to find a manual. Maybe you should send an email to Nikon themselves?

To me this link looks more like a brochure (with the purpose of selling the camera) than a Nikon F5 manual?

F5 manual is copyright protected by Nikon as stated in the manual so you will have a hard time finding an electronic copy.
There are photocopied converted into Jpeg or PDF and I am aware of one version. However it's in Chinese so I don't know if it's going to help you.

Hi Uzi,
I think Ray Chen will have a hard time finding the F5 manual on the WEB, since the manual is a part of the Nikon F5 purchase - and therefore protected by copyright.
Perhaps someone has got an extra manual or a copy (BTW, mine is in danish)?

Hi again Uzi,
I would describe the pdf as an "informative brochure" since it only tells you what the great Nikon F5 - technically speaking - is capable of. A manual would furthermore specify how to use the camera.
However, the pdf-link might be useful if it's not possible to download a manual?

I lost my F5 manual, and ordered a second copy from Nikon. They sold it to me willingly, and I don't think I was asked to prove that I was a legit F5 owner.
The custom settings will be the hard thing to figure out without a manual. Other than that, the F5 will feel very comfortable after shooting with a Nikon DSLR, especially a D1 series.
If you have specific questions I can probably answer them. Magic Lantern also sells an excellent aftermarket manual for the F5 that includes everything the Nikon manual does, and more.

Just like other modern Nikon cameras, all functions of the F5 are accessible via the "mode"+dial combination, and it's very similar to the the D series excpet the extensive use of lock buttons.
The custom setting is a bit difficult, but you'll find a list of such settings on internet - just do a quick search.

Yes, I know I could order directly from Nikon for a minimum fee, but I just want to know enough to get me started. I had a FA (still in the closet), but I now use Canon digital gears. I had to drive the F5 last week, and I feel embarrassed to ask about why the auto focus is not functioning because of mine tipping the focus selector by accident. A lot of things are similar to Canon, but they are still quite different machines. I don't know how much depth I need to cover for the assignment, but it would be nice to know enough to drive the beast. I think Uzi's link will get me a head start, and I can know enough to ask intelligent questions.
