Where to call in priority to get a 1DIII ?

You might want to consider Adraycamera.com in Michigan. I shop at their brick and mortar store and asked about the Mark III the other day. The salesman said they have gotten a couple of shipments in and are selling them to people who have paid in full or put down deposits. He said that their waiting list should be completed soon. So they may have some to sell in the near future.

What a great post....I am amazed at the attack by that English person. Totally uncalled for. We are becoming an international community...I have English relatives and my ancestory is Scottish. We are closest of alies with England. Yes, we were a colony...and became independant...I am proud of that. Remember during World War 11 is was the US that sent arms to England to help arm the populace that was deprived of gun ownership. We are all brothers and sisiters...and should be proud of the accomplishments on both sides of the Atlantic. Honey, another cup of tea please...and turn on Sherlock Holmes... Now does the MK111 have a problem or not?????

Let this American writer and editor from Boston set the Californian straight.

In American usage, CA is the postal abbreviation for California. And that's all it is -- ever. To use CA in text to denote California is simply incorrect usage. In fact, to use CA as a reference to California in anything other than a postal address is wrong.

When referring to California in anything other than a postal address, the correct abbreviation is Calif. or the fully spelled out Califormia.

Don't believe me? You don't have to! Simply refer to The Associated Press Stylebook section on state abbreviations and proper usage. There's a whole page devoted to this specific topic.

(Of course, if you should go to http://www.ca.com , you'll get the Web site of the software company Computer Associates, but that's another topic entirely. And yes, according to the AP Stylebook, "Web" is correct and "web" is not.")

people tell me to 'go to L.'

You are technically correct.

But inside the US it has become common place to use the postal abreviations in informal communications. And admittedly it would be confusing in a multi-national forum that has users that can't grasp that "states" might mean in the United "States"....but it could stand for Canada which only has provinces, or Australia which has Federal States.

It is a non-issue to which you are far too late to the game. If you had followed the thread...you would know it was just that ...a non-malicious word game.

We had an historic battleship in WWII called the "Mighty Mo" and I don't think anybody ever thought it was named for Mozambique.

I venture that few on this forum are unaware what NY, NYC, DC, LA and other common US abbreviations stand for.

But I have seen CA used as an abbreviation for Complete A-----e!
