What does "date imprinting" do?

I turned on "date imprinting" (just for fun), but couldn't find the date printed in my images. I dug into the manual, and discovered that this apparently only works in conjunction with the printing function PDOF, and is controlled by the printer which prints the images.

I am positive (?) that I had printed the date in the corner of images made by the camera (in a similar fashion as the Dimage 7). Is there another function that does this?

I don't see anything else that would do this. However, there are programs - such as Qimage - that will read the exif data and print the date or date and time on or under the photo.

It looks like the latest version of Irfanview will also do this.
