What a sharp DSLR picture looks like

You're not wrong in your opinion I just personally didn't feel that was the best example...

Also, the Circle of Confusion refers to any area lacking with unidentifiable detail that takes the same shape as the lens Bokeh (at least that is what several photo books I've read claimed it was) and the size is irrelevant...

Anyway, you have some nice shots in your gallery.

I have not seen this terminology used before for a final image out
of a camera . How is this defined or measured?
I'm using this expression to distinguish between sharpness that comes from the lens and the percpetion of sharpness that comes from digital enhancement.

You can see the difference when you zoom in (and sometimes without). Digital enhancement will have sharpening halos, while the real deal won't.

Is there a specific way to measure it or is it something that "your eyes can see", so to speak.

1. The picture is taken badly-badly, never put a subject in the middle

2. who cares about your D60 picture in the Sony forum? Why didn't you put in the Canon forums?

difference is worth the effort.]
Man, you are really a piece of art!!!!

Congratulations! You know the first rule of thumb of good composition. With practice and experience you will eventually learn the difference between a rule of thumb and a rule.

Maybe soon you'll learn to read and discover that I wasn't posting this image to teach people about art.

I did post this particular image in the 300D forum in a thread where somebody asked for sharp images.

The reason for posting it here is that many in this forum have been asking about the pros and cons and because there has been a significant amount of misinformation floating around, such as the belief that one must invest thousands of dollars in lenses to get sharp images.

The resolution charts are B/W.
Nobody has come up with color resolution yet.
Is there a specific way to measure it or is it something that "your
eyes can see", so to speak.
Digital sharpening won't really fool the typical resolution chart
tests since it can't create detail that's not really there, so I
think this is a pretty fair way to measure things.

Hi Ron,

I apologize for my message! Sorry.

Sorry again!

asking about the pros and cons and because there has been a

sharp images.
This is true, I observed that. Everybody buy L lenses...

You have nice pictures from Bay Area.

Try that same shot with a D1s and a 100 macro lens.
I don't think you understand what sharpness is really, or what can be
accomplished with a large sensor and an excellent lens.
