is it recommended even if one has CNX? What can it do that CNX can't or what does it do better?

With View NX you can send E mail. Also a better browser than CaptureNX

It's blazing along at 14KB/sec on a 6 meg connection.
Sigh. If Nikon are gonna release a 50MB image viewer, they really should invest in something better than a 56K dialup modem. The little sucker much be smokin' ;-)

I just downloaded it and it was fast. Your problem could be server load or some
other problem. Maybe Nikon just doesn't like some of you guys ;> )

Sometimes I really wonder about Nikon.

My attempts to download have failed three times now. And it's been the same with almost every Nikon release. Their Message Center has never informed me about new releases either. It's inconceivable they're unaware of the problems. I'm forced to conclude they simply don't care.

I tried to download it two times. The first attempt failed after two hours the second one after 20 minutes. What a joke.

Same with me. Downloaded and installed in just a couple of minutes.

Also, I think I have the slowest computer known to man, so this might not mean much to most of you. But I scrolled thru an old folder of NEF pictures, and it seemed that the pictures rendered much faster. It usually takes about 5 seconds for each picture to de-pixilate (whatever the word is), but now it is almost instant by my standards (about a second). Hopefully there is a real performance improvement.

That's a thought, maybe they've been eying over some Canon's and word got back.

In the spirit of Occam’s Razor one should embrace the less complicated formulation or simply put, less is more.
