UV filters

I only use a filter on my 20mm f/1.7, for maximum pocketability. I avoid filters on telephoto lenses, as they frequently interfere with autofocus and image quality in my experience, primarily for birding.

For years I have kept a uv filter on every lens. Logic to protect glass. I am concerned there might be some degradation of image quality. Do you keep a up filter on lens?
... but I do keep a 2A filter on my P. 9mm f1.7 to limit occasional purple blobs.

... but there is a recent poll asking the same question. Search this forum for it.

I don't believe there is any optical benefit for digital as there was for film.

In 47 years of film & digital photography, I've never needed one for protective purposes - and I'm not particularly cautious.
