Using the word "Crop" seems Demeaning

I hear it all the time here.

-Oh, you have a crop camera.

...or...

-Oh, I see you have a crop sensor, so that's why...

...or...

-Is this the original image or did you crop it?

...or...

-Should I crop it in camera or in post?

Mostly you hear this from amateurs and pros who have full frame cameras, which they believe to have the largest sensor and is superior to anything smaller. Well, the medium format folks may disagree and Ansel Adams would have a good laugh as I believe his used to shoot in 8" x 10" format.

If you own a medium format camera is a FF considered a crop camera?

Let's discuss.
I am still annoyed by this post. You hear it all the time here? OK then provide some examples. Shouldn't be hard to find
Your annoyance has been noted.

Don't worry, this thread will end soon.

I just did a search for the word Crop. Here is the result:
Why did you crop the result?

The point here is not if the word crop is used or not but how it is used. In the examples you posted I don't see any hint that it was to belittle/deride/diminish ..whatever, it was just used to tell us the size.

The problem is that when YOU read the word crop it translates into your mind as bad , it isn't the same for others, it just means ...crop.

Right, we know that crop is a term used to describe certain sensor sizes. What I'm looking for is the demeaning, pejorative usage from, in your words, "amateurs and pros who have full frame cameras, which [sic] they believe to have the largest sensor and is superior to anything smaller."

If you hear it all the time it shouldn't be hard to find an example.... unless a) you hear it from voices in your head or b) have created a goofy strawman to get attention.

it isn't all that easy to come up with a new thread. I think that the max quota for equivalent threads for the week has been reached already .

Maybe it is time for another "Canon has lost the plot" thread.

I haven't seen one of those for a few months and I really miss them.

(beef, complaining, etc)

This thread announced itself as an "I hear it all the time here" thread. It's best to stop immediately when you read that phrase, as they tend to be click-bait.

There is nothing about full frame, when my micro four thirds camera has a taller frame.

but folx won't use 35mm , even though they with used the advanced photo system term aps-c

It is a choice on what camera to use, and if it is giving you happy results then time to be happy.

Sometimes these questions are fun to discuss, but are not more than that.

The user made a decision and who are others to judge or comment. Where does it end: your house has only one bathroom (must be shack), your wife is 160cm tall (must be shrunken). Why this obsession with what others say or think about our choices. Boredom or insecurity. Who knows.
