Hi,

I am updating my computer to a new Windows 11 machine and would like to continue using my F1 scanner

At present it runs with Silverfast HDR studio software on my Windows 10 computer

Is anyone using this scanner with Windows 11 and if so, how did you achieve this?

I would be most grateful if anyone could help, thank you

Windows11 will probably automatically recognise your scanner.

I found that the default Windows11 scanning app provided a handy interface between the Canon scanner and the legacy graphics program originally supplied by Canon.

This what AI had to say...

To use your Microtek ArtixScan F1 with Windows 11, you can use the VueScan software, which is designed to provide support for this scanner on Windows 11 and removes the need for the original Microtek drivers. For installing, first, download VueScan from Hamrick.com, then launch the software and follow the prompts. VueScan offers features like infrared cleaning for dust removal on film and can operate with or without previously installed Microtek drivers.

Hello New Wrycuda,

Thanks for the swift response, also for the positive information regarding your experience with the Cannon scanner software, this certainly seems cause for hope

First things first, get Windows 11 to see the scanner, then consider the software to use with it

The AI information regarding VueScan is something I am considering, although | must admit that I would like to continue using Silverfast, even though my copy is getting somewhat ancient.

It seemed to offer more tools and options than VueScan when I trialed it some years ago

Kind regards

There are exceptions, but I expect software that runs under the 64 bit version of Windows 10 to run normally under Windows 11.

If your Silverfast HDR software includes all the drivers to run your old Microtek scanner, it's likely that you'll be able to move to 11 without issues.

I use the VueScan driver only and it works with my original Nikon scanner software. I don't know if it will also work with your Silverfast.

Hi dri3,

Thanks for your contribution and for confirming that VueScan works for you and with your original Nikon scan ware,

I suppose only trial and error will solve the mystery for me; however, it starts to sounds very positive that my F1 may well be recognized and continue to work :-)

Best regards

Hello BobKnDP,

Thanks for the positive comments, my scanning software certainly all ran well previously within the 64 bit Windows 10 system, so fingers crossed -thanks

Note that the scanning app that drives the scanner is separate from the editing program.

No reason why your old Silverfast program won’t work. For some purposes, I still use the same PhotoStudio program that came with my Canon scanner at least 20 years ago.

Good point, it is the Microtek drivers which have to stand the test of time, its interface allows me to summon up the software to use the scanner :-)
