upgrade my backup camera?

Last year I bought a GF3 bundled with the 14mm. The price on ebay was lower than the store price of the lens alone. I use it as a backup body to the e-PL5 and the kids use it on family outings with the 14mm or 30mm.

But now I am tempted by the GM1 with the 12-32 kit lens. I am really tempted by the extra wide coverage, and better features of the GM1 (the Gf3 has a pop up flash, but I rarely use it).

So, should I sell the GF3 and 14mm to get the GM1 with the kit lens? Any other option with considering?

sony rx100 mk1 is cheaper, more portable, and upon startup requires you to neither rotate the lens nor remove lens cap.

i'd use that for a small zoom backup. your main m4/3 can be the prime lens master cam.

That's an interesting idea. The advantage of a second mFT body is that you can have two of your favourite primes mounted.

But thinking about it, the rx100 doesn't give me the 24mm coverage, so it's a nonstarter.

If you want a first class back up camera the GM1 looks very tempting. If you can spring for it, get it.

I had a GF3, and loved everything about it except the sensor (and the LCD was not quite up to bright sunlight). The GM1 has taken its place in the grand scheme of M43 for me. It's got MUCH better IQ than the GF3, and the kit lens has made both my 14mm and the 12mm sit unused most of the time now (and I really, really like both the 12mm and 14mm).

I would sell the GF3 and the 14mm and replace them with the GM1 in a second. You will love it.

Based on the output of the GX7, I would buy the GM1 and 12-32 and not feel too bad about giving up the 14, unless you needed a really compact form factor.

Keep the 14 2.5. It will go well with the GM1. The 12-32 is a very good lens, but you may want the 14 at some point.

Probably well depreciated. Keep GF3 and 14mm.

Buy GM1 with kit lens.

Can't justify keeping them. They pay for part of the gm1. The 14mm is a great little lens, but I don't use that focal length that often. I'd rather have a 12mm
