Hello all,

I am organising a workshop and participants all have different camera systems.

I use Godox lights and have triggers for Canon but I need people using Nikon, Sony and Fuji to be able to trigger my lights. I could buy an XT-2 trigger for each system but ideally I would like to find a trigger that works on all systems.

I heard about the XT-16 but I am getting conflicting information about this model and still not sure if it requires additional receivers etc or not.
Someone mentioned the Cactus V6II trigger but, again, getting confusing information.

Anyway, does someone know of a trigger that will work on most common camera systems and trigger AD200s, AD300s and QT400IIs lights?
I don't mind if this trigger doesn't allow to adjust the lights, I can do it from my Canon trigger or the app. I just need people to be able to put it on the hotshoe of their camera and trigger the flashes.

Thank you!

Thank you

It is a dance workshop so camera will be about 10 meters away and I find the slave flash very unreliable.

I would also rather avoid additional cables etc.

If a dumb universal trigger doesn't exist then I will buy an XT-2 for each system.

about ten years ago ; i had some cheap radio transmitter / receiver that we could swap between Nikon, Canon, ... No ttl, no remote control, used AAA batteries, was not that reliable. had a few channels choices, forgot the name

I moved to XT1 for my godox

ps : i used slave in studio before godox and rarely failed, the joy of no cable and now, not even power cable ; wow

Thank you.

I am trying to avoid having to buy an XT-1 or XT-2 for each system if I can buy a single XT-16 that will work for all.
I just want to confirm that the XT-16 will trigger AD200, AD300 and QT400ii from most cameras.....or if there is another unit that does.

The Adorama Flashpoint R2 SPT (Single Pin Transceiver) at $25 each could be a solution because it speaks Godox protocol and is camera brand agnostic. This means you won't have TTL and HSS flash operation but it does manual flash with power level control at the SPT.

The SPT is exclusive to Adorama's rebranding of Godox gear in the USA. Godox makes it but to my knowledge does not market it. Adorama says they ship to over 200 countries so it may not be too difficult to obtain worldwide.

Thank you John I will take a look. Hopefully they ship to Australia
Unfortunately Australia is not on their list. That's strange because New Zealand and some other countries in that area is on the list.

Buy an XproII and put it in Legacy and L-858 mode. Legacy mode means that acts as a single pin trigger so will work on any camera than has a centre pin on the hotshoe. L-858 mode mode means that you can't change the light settings from the trigger. l-858 mode is just the old APP mode renamed.

The XT-16 is from an older Godox system. Does not work with your current model flashes.

I was going to suggest the Adorama single pin trigger as suggested below, but if it is not available in your country Tug's suggestion below should work and will let you retain power control from your existing trigger.

I have a godox Xproii so I will try what you are suggesting, thank you!

I won't need people to adjust the power from the trigger, in fact it is better if they can't :D
I have other triggers I can use to adjust the light.

I thought the XT-16 was working with 2.4g wireless flashes. I am pretty sure the AD200, 300 and QT400II are 2.4g wireless?

I could be wrong, but I don't find anything that says it is compatible with newer models.

All brands of flash triggers use 2.4G, as do many other devices, but they all use the band in different ways and can't necessarily talk to each other.

After talking to the owner of a studio lighting gear shop, it appears that X2-T and XProII triggers will trigger flashes in manual mode regardless of the camera. The camera system specific models are to enable HSS and TTL functions but he says any model will trigger flashes on most cameras.

Now I guess I just need to test it....

That's why you put it in L-858 mode 😀

Adorama don't ship to Australia, they used to, but not any more. I just got a shipment from them to Aus, I hate ordering with them. Never had a shipment that didn't have an issue.

AFAIK if you are shooting in manual flash, the trigger shouldn't matter as it's only using the centre pin to fire. There is an edge case where sometimes Sony needs their own trigger.
