Two problems with new A7 IV

Tap to shoot on the GRIII is awesome.. sux that this hasnt got that. i just assumed it would..another reason not to upgrade the a7r2.
Perhaps a bit OT but I'm trying to figure out how I'd manage to shoot stills with a tap on the LCD, possibly fold out - and to get this way a sharp image w/o the need to stay in the very short exposure times range.

Steadly holding the cam may be already quite challenging in the traditional position with the cam held firmely to the eye and with the shutter release button with vertical action and close to the face as the point of support/stabilization. Imagining how this could reasonably work ergonomically with the LCD screen flipped to the side or downwards, applying a tap on it. I'm not using my smartphone often for taking a photograph but I know how many of those few photos needed several attempts because of the ruined ones due to the blur caused by my tap on the screen. But that's just me with possibly my ergonomic limitations :-)
Youre overvthinking it. Instead of pressing a button you touch the screen and it takes a photo. Its really that simple. On tripod, off tripod whatever it doesnt matter. When i use the griii in low light i always use tap to shoot as pressing the shutter can cause more movement in the camera. There is no blur caused by tap to shoot.

I just typed this on my phone..and taped the screen loads of times....
it's horrible to use and that's why apple hasnt implemented it either
Lol, horrible to use? Really. You must hate phones.

Easy on android, point and shoot..
Yes it is horrible, One hand on camera, one to touch

shaky shots

slow to focus

I have a canon that does this, and it’s to appeal to the smart phone crowd, and when you have the finest phone maker on the market, doesn’t include this option, it was probably not a good idea to start with.

Overthinking - funny term.

The key probably is that we have different methods of operating a camera, And different demands.

On "my cams" it's not "pressing button"; it's usually a two-steps-operation with half-pressing and then pressing. And this alone makes me prefer releasing shots the traditional way. YMMV.

In the days of dinosaurs and photographic film cameras we were told to push the shutter button slowly to avoid camera shake. We did. And we succeeded.

Good photographers could determine the right moment to start pressing.

The bad ones were always slow (just like now), complaining and waining about how bad the cameras were (just like now).

What I find really interesting is that the OP only have two issues to complain about. If so this must be a wonderful and almost perfect camera! :-D

No, sony implementation is crap. Ricoh is great. Its just as fast to focus and no blury shots

I dont use it in all situations but its great have.

I guess you cant teach and old dog new tricks.

Im not here to put down sony cameras, i own one and may get the a7iv but when something can clearly be improved on it should be called out and not supressed by sony fan boys
