Tripod for Macro

Hi there,

I have several tripods for macro and would recommend all of them as they are used for different purposes.

1. Not a tripod but a been bag: THE GREEN POD, ideal for shots from ground-level and very cheap.

2. small Manfrotto table-tripod-set, consist of legs, small ball head and an extension, all in a carry pouch

3. Benbo mini trekker. The same as the bigger brother but no leg extension - extremely versatile can be used in the most extreme positions

There is also the Optera 460 Pro, by Teck-Tech. Adorama sells it here:

I have one. But, like a lot of camera gear we all buy, I don't remember ever using it. It sort of sits in my closet to keep my other gadets company.

another gadget to consider from adorama is a focus rail - now that i think of it how about a set of extention tubes and a dedicated macro lens like the tammy 90mm. a remote shutter release and your all set! - gee, it's easy to spend your money!

The Benbo trekker (or mini) is not the quickest tripod for many landscapes, but for macro it can locate your camera places other tripods never will. Pay attention to the head. An offset tripod ball head may take some maneuvering, but will allow virtually any camera orientation.

Also consider a McClamp (which I personally prefer) or Plamp. Even if not used to hold flowers, it can hold reflectors or intruding leaves out of the way.
