Top 10 all time multiple posts!

.....it greatly helps a process called "learning"; an obscure practise still used to better the world around us in some parts of the world.

Funnily enough these same parts of the world still profess another obscure concept, "etiquette";

something the lazy posters the OP refers to have no clue about when they post silly questions that may be answered by a very simple google search......or getting off one's behind & doing some reading.

See, the OP was very useful to you as well; now you have become aware of the issues at hand you may work towards making these forums a better place: you should thank the OP (.... THEN you will feel better:)
I can really see how that helped this forum ...

now whenever someone does indeed search, they will find your most
useful contribution.

I feel better now too :)

This would be a grammatical mistake, and spellcheck isn't going to do diddly squat. Like when people write "were" instead of "wear" and "there" instead of "their" and so on.

Since we seem to be picky today, I just thought I'd point that out. :)

re: "ishues" ... must have been an American, they are so literal in spelling as in everything else in life. Euro-trash hide insecurities by using spell-check obsessively and Brits use over-long words and run-on sentences to deliver their sense of superiority thus issues would be "relevant items under consideration" or something like that ...

I'm not interested in the D3, but will it work on my D60?

Will it auto focus?
Will it meter?
Can I use it with Kenko extension tubes?
What kind of bokeh can I expect at f/9.5?
Will I run into difraction at f/64?
Can you post some sample pix?
What about the newer Hispana-Suiza 83mm F9.5 Series D lens (same questions)?

Mr. Koanut,

Please read the American’s with disabilities act.
The plural is "Americans"; the apostrophe is used to indicate the
possessive; as in "the OP's right to create an awareness".

Morris, you're too funny LOL :))
And you are too insensitive and insulting.
In your contorted & very, very warped mind.
Insensitive? Pot calling the ......?
Now THAT is insulting; what's worse, it's a crass case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Since I know you're waiting at the keyboard, biting what's left of your fingernails to read my response: flame away; it seems to be your style.

is KR, its who is KR? KR has to be Ken Rockwell, this internet guru who has convinced the masses that the D40 is the best camera ever made.

He has some informative articles on his web site, but the thing that seems to get the most repetitive posts are his ideas that better equipment doesn't make better pictures. He is actually right on the point that most people will never outgrow their D40, but every time that some new starry eyed disciple discovers his web site, its a whole new flurry of posts.

I do notice when gramatics or spelling are incorrect, but this is a
photography board, not an English class.

Anyway, my biggest annoyance is when people post "I want to get the DXX? but I'm going to wait for the new D90 to be released"

Is that going to make them that better a photographer?

... and therefore your example doesn't work. Picky, I know. :) LOL

Jokes aside, I'm just of the opinion that it doesn't really matter how grammatically and orthographically correct the posts are, as long as they are courteous and friendly. To me, that is what matters most. Especially since I am far from perfect myself.

So, if I had a choice between reading Morris's posts with mistakes, or no posts from Morris, I'd take the errors any day. He is friendly, kind and very, VERY smart. He knows tons of stuff and he shares his knowledge freely. But if we bug him long enough about his spelling, and single him out, even in a humourous kind of way, he might just leave. That would be very sad indeed.

Here's an interesting tidbit I found quite fitting:

I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer inwaht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh? yaeh and I awlyas thought slpeling was ipmorantt!

Cheers!! :)

...to be picky & get the last word,

I might as well add this: (besides the fact that there are spellcheckers that may actually get that little mistake Morris did; but that's irrelevant now); his response in this case came over - & was - hostile to the OP, however subtle.

The OP was needlessly attacked by nauber of posters; just becuase he was brave enough to express an opinion; & an informed one at that.

Just FYI, Morris's "LOL" post further up was an affirmation; & thus agreeing with, of a very derogatory post; not nice at all.

Oh, & don't give me that spelling b.s.:

1) the spelling, orthographical & grammatical errors that have appeared over the years from posters who should know better is simply getting in the way of communication; hindering a clear flow of communication

2) don't assume (you know what they say about assuming) that all posters will have no difficulty in understanding broken english:

there are many posters for whom english is not their native language who come here also to practise their language skills (you'd be surprised how many);

it is simply unfair to them to confuse them with silly things (like adding an apostrophe before the plural letter "s");

as it is also very unhelpful to them in their understanding what is being written & thus following the conversation.

So now you see my motivation regarding clarity in communication; not just correct use of a language.

Hope that helps you understand better what went on here.

You're welcome :)

...humor at all; telling someone to take a pill is very offensive....not only in the US mind you; in many parts of the world including the EU.

I'm a very jovial person & love to crack jokes when I can; but if you tried to hug someone after telling me to take a pill.....s/he would simply push you away.

Just like many people in many parts of the US would do (I'm a born & bred NYker who led an itinerary life in the US who's now living in the EU).

Take care (no apologies needed; just wanted to set things straight).
