Time for some humble pie

The following is a mail just received from Nikon....

+++++++++++++++++++++

Dear

Thank you for your reply,

our service department has advised me that your camera and lens have been examined and the issue resolved and will be send back to you either today or Monday, so you should have your equipment back by the middle of next week.

+++++++++++++++++++++

The operative words in that short mail are ISSUE and RESOLVED. So there clearly WAS an ISSUE that has now been RESOLVED. I'll expand on that when I get the run-down from them on the return of my kit. In the mean-time, will those who claimed that my kit was in perfect working order and that it was a user problem, i.e. that I was a crap photographer, please leave your humble apologies below? That's if you've got it in you. Thanks.
There will always be people with opinions of their own on the matter, even you with your Nikon repair sheet which will more than likely state "adjusted and cleaned" will never know exactly what they did if anything.

But why make such a big song and dance about it on here? Stating to people that you don't care what they think is making you look like such a muppet, as if you didn't care then why on earth post about it in the first place. It's not as if it isn't already common knowledge that some DLSR's have to go back for adjustment.
+1
Well put! It seems Angry-pixel has an axe to grind, for some reason or other.
LOL Jon, my critics have had an axe to grind for weeks, but because I respond, it means I'VE got an axe to grind? And yet you don't mention my axe-grinding critics, probably because you were one of them. How sharp is your axe now? Please don't try splitting an atom with it, not before I get my camera back and have some fun with it.
Yes, we are all out to get you Mr Angry-Pixel, and your little dog too!
(Good job in picking an appropriate name for yourself on this forum, BTW.) ;)

Best regards,
Jon

Oh shut up you patronizing fool. You were patronizing when people reported problems and you still are now, still, I suppose it's a convenient smoke screen regarding the request for a humble apology.

You haven't seen me angry on this board. No-one has. You won't like me when I'm angry. Defending my corner and that of the others who have had real issues with their camera's and have had to endure your tripe on top of it doesn't denote anger. Were you being angry when you were having a go?

hah! I was curious when I saw the word "humble" in a post by you.

OK, not so purely a hobby.

This comes across like a threat and to be honest it really isn't well received by readers, this is not the way to behave on a forum.

It's bad you had trouble with your camera but you really should just move on, you don't need to defend others - I had the same thing myself with a problematic kit lens and Nikon did a fine job sorting it, whining on and on about Nikon QC won't get you anywhere, but if you seek to be heard online then it seems you are succeeding.

it would be very helpful for the community if you could get into more technical details about what was the focus issue all about, what got tweaked and what was replaced:)

OMG, "You won't like me when I'm angry" was a take on the Incredible Hulk series on TV. Lighten up man.

And is trolling around after people who have a GENUINE problem with their camera the way to behave? If it was wasn't for them, this thread wouldn't exist and yet you're completely ignoring that you fool.

Are you brain dead? If you must call it whining (I call it defending myself from those whining that my problem was user error), at least be honest ~ it's NOT about Nikon QC AT ALL, but about people thinking it's good to get someone who is already having a problem and making things worse by attacking them and their photographic skills while going, "My camera takes sharp pictures therefore yours must nah nah nah".

hah! I was curious when I saw the word "humble" in a post by you.
I was humble enough to admit that I was wrong about the ISO/flash issue and even started a thread to say so and inform others what Nikon had told me, so what are you saying here? Are you one of those who put everyone's problems down to user error and are looking for a diversion because you don't have the humility to admit that you were wrong? I don't have a problem with humility ~ I'll defend my corner when I'm right and under attack and I'll admit when I'm wrong. Can you say that?

No.

I like you, your photos and your comments. Its simply that humble and you are two words I would not put together.

My knowledge of cameras is limited. I know only what lets me get the photo that I want. You have to know how a thing works but it matters (to me) only insofar that I can make an image.

No hard feelings. Not many would call me humble, either.

Mr. Pixel sir,

I just hope your camera is fixed. Got mine back from Nikon...said they adjusted autofocus issue, same on the lens, and still the same.

Let us know. I'm dejected here...

AP, thanks for the information. Nikon has had my camera since 1-21-11. I called them yesterday to check the status but didn't really get an answer besides the "it's in the shop". Again, it's been listed as "in shop" since 1-21-11.

This tells me that they are probably waiting for parts since it's listed as needing a B1 servicing.

I too was poked at when discussing my focus issues. I truly hope all the fanboi's learn a lesson here, but I seriously doubt it. Fanboi's have an ability to dismiss all logic and evidence and sticking with their false superiority.

I cannot wait to receive my camera, and I will report if it's been resolved or not.

I'm glad your issue has been resolved. I only hope that all the bodies that were returned or sent to service were actually defective. I had/have the firm belief that Nikon would stand behind their product.

AP & patco -- I've noticed the bullies (they give fanboys a bad name) have quieted down quite a bit since verification and remedying of problems has been accelerating by Nikon. I'm very glad that Nikon isn't in denial like these forum bullies -- we have hope that D7000 problems will be correctly addressed, and hopefully future Nikon models will incorporate these improvements.

I don't think any of us have enjoyed the disappointment of a problem with a camera we've been so looking forward to.

In your case, it really is because you don't know how to use the camera.

Now, Roman, 'fess up -- you made quite a few statements without accusing any single person , but written in direct response to posters and broadly enough that it was clear that you were accusing "individuals" of simply whining or not studying their camera, and that they were following what you see as long trend of complainers on Nikon deployments.

This isn't a court of law, but even there, I think your past remarks are clearly biased against those who have since been found to have legitamate problems with their D7000. I'm not including you as a "forum bully", I'm sure you believe in your position and always try to help, but in this specific small area of discussion, you do bear some responsibility for trying to put down a potential uprising of the natives. ;)

This is the part of the debate I like to call, "Smoking Out The Weasels". ;)

That is where people who have misbehaved and done some wrong, instead of humbly apologizing, continue to resolutely defend themselves in the face of contradictory facts coming to light.

You kids playing at home, see if you can "Spot The Weasels". :)

Yeah because nikon would be waiting for parts because I don't know how to use my camera. Now would be a good time for you to visit your doctor as you obviously have a mental issue.

winparkman -- A repair order Rank B1 is a repair , not a tea party.

Cope -- You set very high standards for others.

So, what is your break point between legit problems and hysteria/ignorance, before you shut up and cut owners some slack? 50/50? 60/40? 40/60? 90/10??

Is there any legit level of ignorance, or should we all acquire Engineering PhDs before purchase?

No higher a standard than I hold myself to. Where in "I'm glad your issue has been resolved. I only hope that all the bodies that were returned or sent to service were actually defective. I had/have the firm belief that Nikon would stand behind their product." do you think I set too high a standard, and/or accuse anyone of ignorance or hysteria?

Cope -- One simply needs to review your comments on various threads dealing with the topic to see the sarcasm and past accusations. Sorry, I'm getting too familiar with some of the players on the forum.
