Hopefully that is something other than Damage. :> )
I believe my first screen is 02 01 01 01
What is your first screen??? Maybe it has something to do with that.
Since you're not supposed to be messing around with the service menu, you shouldn't know if there's a diagnostic flag in the page 4 menu or not. Probably it's gone after a hard reset. Have you tried that already?

If the camera doesn't work properly, only the service department knows how to decode those diagnostic messages.
My first screen is exactly the same:
E-5
02 01 01 01
If the camera works, don't worry; Be happy and use it properly.

I was able to do a Hard Reset and the message "2C40" is still in Page 4.

Thanks for the information! Currently at 3287 clicks.

Worked well. Thank you

I have in the damage code log from my E-5 D: 8807

No clue if that's bad or not.

Does anybody know how to Hard Reset the E-5?

I just want to try if that will erase such code from the log.

Thanks.
David

Found it myself while comparing with the E-3

Camera OFF
► Hold down MENU button and turn ON the camera
► Release MENU button and press MENU again to get to Menus
► Go to LCD Brightness Menu, that's in Spanner Menu and third item down.
► Press RIGHT to show screen adjusters
► Press INFO and then press OK and on my E-5 this shows on screen....
OLYMPUS E-5 0A 01 01 01

► Press Menu+OK for 3 seconds

Will try this and see if the error disappears.

Thanks for the info!

Does anyone know how many clicks are on a brand new E-5. I just got one today and checked the shutter count first and it had 135 clicks on it. I'm thinking this is normal - just Oly testing before shipment but I'm not sure.

My first impression is that this cam is light years ahead of my E-1s ;)

Best,
Ed

Yes, that's the usual sort of number for testing.

I figured it was probably just QC. The camera seems completely unused.
Thanks,

mine had zero!

Try this:
E-30 Shutter count:
1. Turn on the power switch
2. Open card door. The LCD should warn you CARD-COVER OPEN
3. Press "menu" and "OK" buttons simultaneously

4. Press the menu nav/arrow buttons in the following sequence: up, down, left, right
5. Press the shutter release (briefly, once)
5b (up=p1, rt=p2, so=p3, wst=p4
6. Press menu nav/button for AF (Right) again
Page 2 screen shows
R - counts the number of shutter activations
S - counts the number of times a flash was fired.
C - counts the number of times the mirror has been locked up (cleaning mode).

U - number of times the camera has been turned on (and the ultrasonic wave cleaner activated).
B - number of times shutter button is fully pressed for any reason.
M number of hot/dead pixels

Works for me...

Thank-you for the info.

According to the screen the camera did 89,047 releases.

That's better than I thought (would have guessed 65-70,000 because I have been mainly using the E-M5 for the last year) but it's a fair distance from the advertised 150,000.

Thanks!

I did a search for this method of finding the shutter counts on the E-5. If you know of an easier way please let me know. Otherwise I'll try this method tomorrow.

Meanwhile, compliments of Otto, here is the method for finding the shutter count on the E-330.

Here it is:

1. Turn on the power switch

2. Open the CF card door

3. Press "menu" and "OK" button with two fingers in one time

4. Press the button of the cross cursor in the following sequence: WB, ISO, Metering Icon. AF

(meaning: 1. upper button, 2 lower button, 3 left button, 4. right button)

5. Press the *shutter* release button once

6. Press cross cursor "AF" button again

Then you will see the Page 2 screen, R.......stands for the *shutter* count.
