What software do most of you use for post production. I am using the H9 and love it so far. I do have microsoft imaging suite right now but havent really gotten into it to much. I dont need to be doing anything to fancy with it either i just want to be able to clean up some photos if i need to.
Thanks

Same here. I have used Digital Image for years and am saddened to learn of its recent cancellation by MS. I have taken two Elements classes and find its functions much too difficult to use and remember how to use on an occasional basis. DI offers all of the features I need for tweaking after the fact and is simple, straight forward, and easy to use. If I forget something, it has wonderful help and video tutorials.

To answer your question:
  • Digital Image
  • PMView (image viewer)
  • Noiseware (noise reduction)
  • Photomatix and/or easyHDR for HDR work (still deciding between the two)

Just a note about Noiseware. It removes the EXIF data from the photos (but for some, this isn't an issue).

Thank you for the reminder. This is very worthwhile knowing for those who require the information all along the chain of mods.

I have used NW a few times at dusk, although, mostly use it after each of our dances prior to posting on the club's website.

I do not need the data after filtering, yet can recall it if necessary by looking at the original or prior mods.

I started with ACDSee and now use CS3. That said; The biggest bang for my bucks is the one I still use as the first step in my work flow. Focus Magic (free trial @ http://www.focusmagic.com ) that refocus out of focus images. I can say that 95% of ALL images benefited some from this software. Starting with a tack sharp in focus image is so important. All digital cameras are out of focus a little (1~3 pixels, & the more pixels in the image the more likely a pixel or two will be out of focus). Try it on some of your out of camera pre PP images (PP can cover some out of focus pixels, and add to them also when they are there to start with).

I too use Focus Magic and give it two thumb's up. It works as a plug-in with Corel for me.

The shareware version of Noiseware does NOT remove EXIF information
and will batch process photos. It's a gem.
Yes, NW is a great NR program, IMO. The current "community" version does not do batch processing:

Also, the add-in version of NW Pro does NOT remove EXIF data. I have V4.1.1. Not sure about other versions or the standalone version?

Everybody has a different PP system...and it changes with time (as new tools are delivered). Here is what I currently do:

1. Import into Lightroom 1.3.

2. I use LR for all the basic stuff...exposure, shadows, WB, mild sharpening, mild NR, cropping, etc.

3. If I have a "problem" with a pic, I bring the image into PSE5, where I use layers and selections to isolate the problems.
4. In PSE5, I have PTlens and Noiseware available. Both are recommended.

5. Then I import these edited pix back into LR.

I have been using it for some time now and it always strips the EXIF.

This is from the Noiseware site.

Note that the Standard and Pro versions do not remove the EXIF but the community version does.

Thank you for looking and if you commented thanks for that also.

Oh yeah you can download and PP all you like.

Between us we may get a worthwhile photo.

and my bread and butter programs. Also use CS2 at times and use the Sony IDC (700 version) for RAW conversions.

BTW, Photo Impact 13 should be out soon.
