I just finished installing Irfanview,Photo Smart,Photo Deluxe,Photoshop Elements, and Paint Shop Pro.Is there any reason why I would still want to install the Camedia software or do I have all the bases covered with the collection I've got?Any replies would be appreciated as I would like to get all my installations done tonight.Thanks.--A shot a day keeps withdrawals away!Photographically speaking.

I have the Camedia 2.5 loaded and only use it when the driver for the SM reader fails to load for some reason.

Has anyone done a study to see if any EXIF data is lost if you do not use the Camedia software? What about TIFF files?, .MOV all handled the same?

The auto Pano stitch or the distortion fix feature would be the only reason but if you choose not do the panos and don't get many pics that may need a pincusion fix then don't bother...

Elements retains all Exif info throughout all editing...PhotShop6 also retains it...

it all at once.I believe in keeping it simple but I at least wanted to get it installed.I won't even touch Elements for a while unless there is something that can only be done with it.The first thing I have to learn about is my camera, never mind the software.--A shot a day keeps withdrawals away!Photographically speaking.

I didn't install Camedia and don't miss it.

Sorry I only have expierience with the two I mentioned with regard to Exif retention...CamediaMaster also retains Exif as long as you choose the jpg(exif) or tiff(Exif) extesion in the "SAVE AS" prompt. I think I have PhotoImpact7 but since I got what I want in Elements. It has become my Default editor of choice....& I've never really tried PhotoImpact
Elements retains all Exif info throughout all editing...PhotShop6
also retains it...
So does PhotoImpact 5, 6, and 7.

Not surprising, if you've never used it. ;)

Anyway, I use the Camedia software for distortion correction, and for Pano stitching. The quicktime VR mode is also a big plus.

For photo manipulation, I'd rather use PhotoShop.

BTW - For those concerned with EXIF data, the following program is fantastic:

http://www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/

It allows you to dump your EXIF data to a file, edit your picture, then put the appropriate EXIF data back into your picture.

I have an UZI and right now the only way I can transfer my photos is thru Camedia because of the way Oly implemented USB on this older camera. I do plan on getting a card reader soon but until then Camedia is it. I only use it for transfering my photos to my HD. I use PS6, Irfanview, Q-ImagePro, etc. for photo editing and such.

Are any of you running windows xp? I never have to use camedia to pull pics from the cam. I just plug it into the camera and windows xp does the rest. I have a card reader but never use it since it's so quick and easy to use the usb interface.

great slideshow presentation. I work out it to edit my photos.

I load from card reader to Camedia, and then edit (if I choose to), then store edited images in seperate folder (sometimes, depends).
