Smiling Squirrel D100 Pic)

actually Ed I think that's his nose ;-) But he's probably smiling because you left him lots of nice bird seed to eat!

Great shot!

I thought we had a country squirrel here. I do know that he is afraid of the Woodpecker. When the Woodpecker showa up, he goes up in the tree. Our squirrels at home don't seem to be afraid of anything.

HI Tim
There is not much that will stop a determined squirrel.

--Ed--
This squirrel jumped onto the squirrel shield, and I swear he was
smiling at me as I took his picture. Take a look at his mouth.

Hi Mike,

THis feeder is about 15 feet from my trailer deck. It is a continuous show. We love to sit out there and just watch the many birds and the antics of the squirrels. Thanks for commenting.

--Ed--
If someone could invent something that really worked they would
become rich, next he will be flipping you the bird!

I was tempted yesterday to buy a feeder to put in my trailer, but I do not know if they would allow that, I will check it out. I definitely know that Disney won't, but the other campgrounds maybe. The birds here are eating the food like "there is no tomorrow." I wish I could see some squirrells around here, they are really cute animals.

Nice capture Ed. You should submit it as an application to the Worldwide Squirrel Shooters Association (WSSA) over on the NTF. It’s WSSA open season, check it out if you haven’t! http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1007&message=8632592

Like you, I take in the show around the bird feeder. I put up a feeder a few years ago that I thought was truly squirrel proof---and it worked until this year. One of the many squirrels that frequent my backyard, a very young one, has figured out how to navigate around the “barrier”. I’m waiting to see if the others learn from watching.

Hi Maria,

Be thankful that you don't have any squirrels. They are cute, but they eat everything and chase a lot of the birds away.

Hi Regit,

You are quite observant. It is really part of his nose, but it sure does look like a smile. These squirrels are really clever. I have given up trying to outwit them.

--Ed--
Till I look closer :) Very nice perspective; and here's a real
smile from me after seeing the pic :)))))

Hi,

I don't believe that you can outwit them. My wife gets a big kick out of watching me try. You can keep them away for a while, bu eventually they figure out a way to get to the food. Thanks for the comments. I'll take a look at the WSSA.

Hi Harris,
He owns the feeder. We stopped trying to keep him out a while ago.
