This may be a bit outdated, since "i think" the nex 5r was the last one with it.
On a russian site called impulsite, they did some documentation on the smart accessory port which allows to attach a viewfinder, flash and external microphone.
This lead me to this image:
thanks to "xand" for measuring. it can be found here: http://impulsite.ru/viewtopic.php?p=7740
The port has 2 ID pins, IHS_ID1, IHS_ID2. having resistors from each pin to GND selected the accessory. In this case (my results when testing with 2 potentiometers.
my results:
ID1 --- ID2
22k --- 22k = Flash settings visible, doesnt really have a effect.
47k --- 47k = Viewfinder (Error, cannot connect to it)
56k --- 56k = Viewfinder settings visible, no error. this must be it.
up to 90k-90k = it keeps like the 56k-56k setting.
When using a invalid resistor value on one or both (+-5 or 10k) it shows "This accessory is not compatible with this camera" (translated, english text could be different.
on a MSA-10 flash adaptor, theres a beatiful breakout board wich doesnt have the audio pins routed out. grrr soldering these seems impossible for me. would need to make an own board. nvm, i soldered these huge resistors in there (because i didnt had smaller ones with 22k) and put it in the camera. flash settings seems to be available now.
see
thats the pinout for the MSA-10 which i quickly photoshopped.
Now, i need to know what resistance the "ridiculously overpriced" ECM-SST1 has from ID1 to gnd pin 4, and ID2 to gnd pin4.
i tried to find the right value on my potentiometers test stand "lol" while recording video and hearing when theres no sound anymore. But i could find it.
Now i ask you, if you got the ECM_SST1, can you measure it?
the microphone inputs may be for condenser microphones and need a few components to work with line level (1Vpp) audio signals, but having a external audio input would make me happy. i dont use a flash anyways, atleast not the one i got for my bulky canon eos 500d ( which i also modified to have a external mic input socket)
thanks for reading.
(thats a canon ef 50mm 1.8 ii, since i got canon equipment and didnt want to get new lenses. using the commlite adaptor and manual focussing. flash is a metz 44-af1 for canon e-ttl2. cam is sony nex 5r)
