I have an 808 which is always with me but something I can't figure out is how to I get the 808 and iPad to "talk" to one another? I bought ShutterSnitch for the iPad but failed to make the iPad see the 808. I know very little about FTP and both the iPad and 808 can be FTP clients or servers.

There's something about the iPad which is that it cannot connect to my 808 via Bluetooth. I have unsuccessfully tried connecting them both vis Wifi.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

1, your iPad model and iOS version?

2, if it CAN be jailbroken, do you object to doing it? (IMHO, JBing is a must for every serious user and, unless you use pirate repos and don't forget following some e.g. password changing tutorials, absolutely safe.)

With JB, you can already use OBEX for standardized file sending from the 808 via AirBlue Sharing. It works just fine - I've done a lot of photo transfers from the 808 to the iPad using AirBlue Sharing.

I may try the new Airport Express to interface the two devices. I have never owned any AirPort Express so I don't know how well it will work. I have also never successfully tried to set up an ad-hoc connection. My phone has Joiku Spot 4.0 (2012 edition) which I purchased earlier.

Email might work but I have a 64GB memory card in my phone. Using the 38MP Creative Mode could really fill up the card.

I don't know anything about Belle or Nokia devices, but a search found these apps:

FTP Server app:

WebDAV client:

FTP and WebDAV for file management and exchange is a common feature of iOS apps and is also built into every PC/Mac (although FTP is easier to use on PC/Mac with an app also).

I find WebDAV to be easy to use, but my transfers are usually between a PC/Mac and an iDevice. There are piles of iOS apps to choose from which allow wireless file transfer using WebDAV, FTP, SFTP, HTTP and Bluetooth.

I am a first time owner of both an iPad and the Nokia Symbian phone which I have never previously used. My prior experience of mobile phones were mostly of the more basic type. I got Nokia for the 41MB camera. The iPad came later when Apple announced a 128GB version.

Thanks for the links. I already have SymFTP but the UI looks different so I will redownload it and see how it goes.

It does work. I can take photos and save it directly into the 64GB SDXC card. I can view the same photos on my Win7 laptop. I am having undetemined issues at this point. Dropbox Camera Uploader fails to recognize my phone's external memory when I try to import the photos.

The "from the 64GB SDXC to your laptop" is great news. Thanks for the info.

I'm going shopping!
