Reflections in time...

This is one of those photos that show
how dramatic a black and white photo can be.

Thanks for sharing it.

Jimmie,

That must be some real thick water - look at the reflection of the clock :-)

Sorry, it just begged for someone to do that. I love your photo...

Jimmie,

The mental veer as the foreground figure "sizes" the dominant central object helps make this a very interesting photo.

Thanks.

Thanks,

When the memorial first opened, they allowed open access to the chairs. The grass they planted around them, however, was not hearty enough to handle the traffic. For now, only survivors are allowed to approach the chairs. The plan is to plant a heartier breed of grass and allow open access again.

I live in Oklahoma City, our company did a lot of the lighting
on the memorial, including a band of hidden fiber optic
around the reflecting pool

I chuckled at the person commenting on the depth of the pool

It's 1 inch deep

that's right.......one inch of water on top of pure cold black
onyx that makes it appear as if it's a thousand miles deep

The memorial is most powerful at night.

Many people don't understand what that day was like without being here.....I had a picture knocked off my wall 20 miles north of the building. Driving around OKC that night was like someone had banned cars......noone was out........i mean noone...

the most powerful thing that day for me and the thing that finally brought me to tears was that during christmas, the tallest building downtown turns certain office lights on at night to make a cross for christmas.....it's like that 2 weeks before christmas and through new years...that building was two blocks south of the site.

That night in April......the cross was lit just above where all those people still lied in the rubble

Never before and never again has the cross been lit outside christmas but
that night in April it was.

I think that your picture is great! Great idea and wonderful composition.

I just want to give you a different perspective of the same picture with a different, I believe more dramatic, composition. Let me know if you like it.

I think that those buildings at the back are kind of distracting, that's why I cropped differently the image.
