With Photoshop Elements it is easy to decrease the image quality, but I cannot see how to decrease the image size to get the required size for posting on the web.Any recommendations?

One of the many functions of an all around great program, QIMAGE, is its ability to do batch processing of a whole Queu of photos to a variety of websizes... I was doing this when processing all my Australia Vacation images before posting them to pbase for family and friends.

I use elements to create a web gallery and it makes the photos smaller and you can control how small.

If your looking to create smaller pictures for other websites. I use easythumbnails - free

It will batch process or do a few by right clicking and picking make a thumbnail.

Size, quality, brightness, contrast etc. are controlable.
Great free program.

I'll second Qimage. It has some great interpolation methods which are extremely valuable for size reduction. If you can't use Qimage, make sure your program has ani-aliasing so lines don't become stepped.
