Real sigma 12-24 samples!!!

based on what I read this lens is not going to be what I've been
waiting for. That being the case what would the experts out there
recommend from the following options:

sigma 15-30
sigma 17-35
canon 17-40

I've probably missed some....my criteria being as wide as possible
but still acceptable results.
I must say, if you check either the 17-40 or sigma fish samples, you will see good quality. I own both. Some of my Japanese photos wee talken with the fisheye defished and they look quite nice.

this will be my one and only commnet on this subject.

I asked for no direct links. One was made. I complained becuase my request seemed so clear. It turns out my request was not clearly understood. I told the link maker he need not apologise. That was it.

Since then everyone is a web design expert and tells me what I should do with my web site! Discoveries are made that my index page has ungrammatical text! Such discoveries come surely from people who just never will understand "creativity." They are the ones who sometimes manage to remember the rule of thirds and follow it to the inch. Insults are thrown about by people who dont have web sites. Still, they are experts. Im only surprised we dont have any music experts yet who will tell me I cannot write or play. If my initial remark was abrupt, it is nothing to the very obnoxious posts some people have made.

It's my web site. If you dont like it, dont go. I dont ask opinions about my photos nor do I about my site. There is a reason for this. If clicking photos stuff then lens tests is so difficult for you, go some where else.

For those half dozen or so idiots who criticise and compalin and instruct about my site etc etc etc. there are hundreds of people who just go, check out what they want and leave.

So its very simple, i took those sample shots for myself. I knew they will be interest to others. I know there is other stuff on my web site that may be of interest. I know it because my other sections are visited more than the lens stuff. So i make a simple request. No direct links. You need to click photo stuff and lens tests. This is my request. I am not asking for opinions. This is just my request. If you want to go in, look at the lenes test and leave, thats fine. My lens test page is only temporary and does not have the same format and navigation system as the rest of my site. Thats why I want people to at least know there is a real site with CONTENT.

If your not happy with any of this, I dont care. You dont need to go there. If you want to offer me more advice and the benefit of your refined design skills and system of ethics, I also dont care.

If you would like to comment on my mother, perhaps she is too ugly for you, once again I dont care.

the test shots will be there for a while. those who are interested are welcome to go check.

If someone posting a link to your most amazing of websites gives you a proverbial conniption fit, and prompts you to yell at the person who simply misunderstood your very unusual request...

Why in the h*ll did you post here? Most people put up websites so that people can actually look at them and hopefully enjoy the contents.

If bandwidth is SO scarce that having a link posted would simply kill your site maybe you should consider using a different ISP.

Being a jerk on this forum will win you no friends, my first impression of you was not favorable, and throughout the rest of this thread you only reinforced my negative feelings towards you. Perhaps you should be more aware of how you come across unless you actually mean to me like this intentionally.

You don't own the links. Several companies thought they did, but they lost in court.

Your intensions were good, many of us were quite interested in seeing some actual pics from the lens. It's a shame that your good intensions turn into a thread like this. Thanks for making the effort!

i agree its a shame there arent more posts on the samples.

I also agree with an earlier poster that the lens seems to be not working on the right hand side. still, even when I look at the left and imagine that is how the edges should look, i'm still not so impressed. When I checked the old fish eye sample, same page, I was struck by how nice it looks.

I look forward to seeing some better samples if someone buys one of these lenses. But the nikon lens (same size zoom) that i posted by mistake a few days ago was also far from impressive. Unfortunately I have deleted those shots otherwise I would post one for comparison.

On a positive note, I have saved myself 70 000 yen!!!

if you you want to post here and talk to people, because you are so rude and arrogant - noone will ever talk to you. You do deserve worse than that - your site IS ugly place, and forcing people navigate through this mess is simply being BAD A$$ MF. Since I'm one of those too (but I know how to be polite and thankfull to nice people), I'll make sure that I visit your threads and remind people who you are, and how you treat people here.

maybe he will improve the usefulness of his posts (as well as his manners) but if he continues to act so childishly eventually no one will pay attention to him anyway. everyone makes mistakes (Michael-L you should know all about this one :p) and i'm willing to forgive and forget but i suspect unrelenting impudence will get him nowhere with most of the people in this forum.

Then lens is so bad its a total joke for sigma to release it. Its not even close to my sigma 15-30, hope that was some bad sample that maybe somone dropped on the floor.
These are only samples taken inside the shop, but I think at this
point better than nothing.

My expectations were not high after looking at what turned out to
be Nikon samples last time. In fact, for me this lens is pretty
much useless. Wide open wide angle is very blurry. Even stopped
down it still stays blurry, though of course less.

Zoomed in the lens is much better. But most of us I think are
looking for a wide zoom, so that's not much help.

Also, if you look at some earlier test shots, you will see I
compared the sigma fisheye with the Canon 17-40L. It did pretty
weel and I bought it. The 12-24 does not compare at all. The
difference is startling. You miay wish to compare the sigma
defished shot with a the f8 12-24. The new zoom is quite a bit
wider, but check the price label on the right. The zzom is even
wider than the fishy fisheye shot, which you can also check.

Any way, for me the fish eye is sharp and offers fishy or non fishy
shots. It's also light. The 12-24 for me is really just unusable.

But that's just my opinion. Too bad though because I would have
bought it otherwise.

Please dont make any direct links in any comments you may post.

Hope this is of interest to some.

If you are a weak personality, long periods here can affect you this way. I prescribe a trip back to the UK then on to a more unsophisticated, less demanding culture, say Australia, more in keeping with his general personality.

This kind of behaviour is very un-japanese. The Japanese go out of their way to be polite and friendly. But he is Canadian, that explains a lot.

My next-door neighbors at my last house were Canadians, and they were one of the nicest people I know. I think he is either from his own planet or a very good entrepreneur. Let me p*ss everyone off here, and I get to advertise my homepage as a hot topic on the forum without paying a dime to Phil...

LMAO...........i haven't even particitpated here and i get flamed............maybe it's the reason i have been banned 3 times...............cause i just don't care about nothing here...........this place is about being right, and continuous arguements.

my replies to most here are purely sharp and to the point because i just don't care.

only reason i reregistered is because Adam-T asked me to................the sooner i get banned, the better, as even i come back here to look at the rediculous postings............

thank you for the images! it is useful to see pics, i'm also on the search for a wa lens. the 15mm fisheye looks more bright and detailed then the 12mm Sigma. the 17-40 is much sharper. i like the 17-40 much, the 16-35 would be even better, but the price.

the 12mm Sigma however would be much wider...

it's hard to decide...

i have to see more Sigma12 shots, this copy must had some defect. but the images are still useful, thank you for posting it!

I'm sorry for those of you who were interested in the samples, and all of you who looked without joining in this abusive thread.

I made a simple request not to have direct links. It means two click of your mouse. Since then the abuse has become very personal, racist, insulting. A kind of pack mentality has ensued. An interesting phenomenon if it were not so creepy.

this final post has forced me to remove the pics. I do not have unlimited bandwidth.

many hundreds of people were interested in seeing the samples, but a dozen or so people are more interested in joining the feeding frenzy.

once again I apologise to the rest of you.

If any one is desperate to see the samples, please email me and I will send you reduced size copies.

You really need a disclaimer before your link rather than implying this is a link to the photo itself:

"You will need to search for the pictures on my site, this is not a direct link to them and I will not tell you what links to follow to get there either: http://www.waddo.net "

Did you know I can also get samples of the sigma 12-24 at http://www.zombo.com ? I mean I can get anything there...
So its very simple, i took those sample shots for myself
Great... at least you didn't steal someone else's photos and post them on your website like you did here (public [and illegal] service):

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1029&message=6680267

There's a serious issue with your ability to communicate in the English language. But rather than attacking people, perhaps you could

Be a little more logical with your requests; you directed us to your website so that we would look at the contents and maybe give you some criticism. You even said yourself:
This is a question of allowing people to explore if they wish.
Actually it is forcing them to sift through your site to find it. With two clicks, I can also find out about all about your personal life in a letter to your friend which is not really something I wanted to see (and perhaps something you didn't want to show to the public either... but it's there). Then you attack everyone who comments on it... nice manners. I doubt your significant other who registered the site for you would approve.

no no, canadians are among the friendliest, nicest people i have ever known. well, except one who was totally neurotic (at least she was cute), but the rest were all nice. methinks this person's behavior has NOTHING to do with their nationality or ethnicity or whatever......
This kind of behaviour is very un-japanese. The Japanese go out of
