Re: What's up with Photopoint?

Well, I hope someone like Ofoto picks up the archives so that we still have access to our photos. I have all of them somewhere, but it will take some research to find them all. Also all the captions will be lost.

Naiz,

Sure we support EBay. Simply upload your pictures, the use the "Link to Pictures" option to generate a URL you can paste into an EBay ad.

Thanks,

It has been about two days since I was able to access Photopoint's
site. However, it has been over a week since I could enter their
Market Place to order pictures. I kept receiving a message stating
that the site was Under Maintenance. When I questioned when it was
expected to be back on-line, Photopoint's response was that "the
Market Place was under maintenace". Not much help!

After succumbing to their access fee, I hope they have not closed
their doors!

Fred,

You bring up a very good point.
The photos have not disappeared--the service to view them has.

The place that holds our photos is in Halifax, NS, Canada. Someone had more info. I'll see if I can find it. I think all of us should contact them if possible.

I just logged on and all seems to be okay. I couldn't find any mention of what happen though.

Hmmm. Aren't they going to get a hundred thousand e-mails if they don't put up an explanation? Bryan

Sorry to disappoint those who were so quick to condemn Photopoint.

Everything appears to be back to normal at this time.

I just logged on and it looks like it did before. No comment on the website about why they have been down.

I have sent them a number of e-mail messages in the past, and they have only ever replied to one of them (and even then it took them over a week) so I'd guess 100k of e-mails would just get deleted like I suppose all my questions over the last month...

PhotoPoint has not met my expectations so far, I am sad to say, and if I didn't have such a large investment in uploiads to them I expect I would switch services too.

Sorry but things will be anything but normal. If your a user do you have the same confidence in PhotoPoint today you did last Thursday? The damage that has been done does not appear on a web page.

We received word today from their law firm that they have placed their assets with a company to start the liquidation process. All claims must be processed by the end of the year. I really hate to see them go;-(

On June 26th Photopoint Corp. made a general assignment for the benefit of creditors to Sherwood Partners http://sherwoodpartners.com/as assignee, pursuant to California Law.

Pursuant to the Assignment, PhotoPoint transferred ownership of all of it's rights in tangible and intangible assets to Sherwood for liquidation. Thanks, clifhanger. You've given enough information for even a lazy journalist to ferret out the story. Let me go out on a limb and guess you're no stranger to the forums here, even though your posting history starts today. Are you old enough to remember "Deep Throat" as the anonymous source from the Watergate scandal? Maybe you should be using that name

There is apparently a NON-lazy journalist at The Imaging Resource who is reporting that Pantellic Software will acquire PhotoPoint from Sherwood Partners.
