I think that is a red herring as any backup that isn't powered up regularly to keep it current is of low utility. The fears about SSDs not under power seem over emphasised and the time needed to lose data much longer than we might have feared.
One external SSD for files you use plus two HDDs for backup makes sense though it really is the minimum backup copies. How you do it is up to each person but the backups need to be updated frequently enough and disconnected from power and data when not actually in use.
This isn't critical of anyone on here but there is a steady flow of threads on here by people content to spend large amounts on camera gear, to bang off loads of pictures, to save most of them but then seem curiously cautious about backups and backup hardware.
Finally I've not seen good data on SSD vs HDD reliability, but with enough copies it isn't an issue either way.
