I'm really getting a bit annoyed with the folks in the repair dept at CPS in Virginia. About 6 weeks ago I sent my R6 MKII in for a warranty repair. The camera occasionally keeps shooting after I have released the shutter button. It happens with back button focus with eye detection and using the H or H+ burst mode.
The first time, they inspected it and claimed they could not duplicate the issue, did a basic cleaning and reset and returned it. I made all my custom settings as far a buttons and the usual stuff and went out to shoot and it did it right away. My finger isn't even touching the button and it keeps firing for 8-15 shots.
I had my wife sit next to me with her cellphone on video and we video taped it. I sent it back in (this time Canon paid for the return to CPS) and included a USB thumb drive with the video on it. After a few days of receiving it they returned it as repaired, stating the top cover which has the shutter button assembly was replaced.
I went through the trouble of resetting all my custom settings and went to shoot my grandson's soccer game and guess what? I still did it, multiple times during the game.
It happens when I shoot a short burst of action. I hold the shutter button down for a a brief moment to catch some action, lift my finger off the button and it keep firing.
Last Monday (April28th) I returned it again and CPS to their credit paid for the return shipping. I got the usual message that it was received and no charges would be applied as it is a warranty repair and they should have it repaired by Friday. On Friday, having heard nothing I looked at the status of my repair and it says "Suspended". I called CPS and they told me they can't figure out what is wrong so the repair is on hold, they have sent details to Canon USA who in turn might need to contact Canon Japan for help.
I told them I would be happy to take a refurbished body as a replacement if they are not able to fix this one. And my warranty runs out today as it has been a year since I purchased it. The guy at CPS told me that any repair they do will have a 6 month warranty but after 3 times being sent in I am skeptical.
Going to give them until tomorrow and then complain.
