Hey all,
So, I'm fairly new to photography, and primarily got my R6 for astrophotography, which I definitely make use of it for. However, I'm also a musician, and I live stream on twitch on occasion. I've heard of many streamers having great satisfaction using DSLRs and mirrorless cameras as webcams for streaming, and so I wanted to use my R6 for the same feature. I couldn't get my hands on a elgato camlink device, so I ended up getting their HD60X, which is supposed to be an upgraded version of the same thing.
This was such a headache. After a lot of running around and downloading elgato software, and the Canon EOS utility software, I got the thing to run. But during my first live stream, the HDMI feed would stop every 30 minutes. Like clockwork. I spoke with elgato to see if it was an issue with their device, and they've run every test they could, and of my system, and says there shouldn't be an issue. I talked to Canon technical support, and we also ran through every setting on the camera, and they also said there shouldn't be any issue. The only thing I can think of is continuous power is an issue, and for that I was using a Canon OEM usbc power adapter along with streaming HDMI.
One thing I have considered is that maybe a dummy battery would be a better solution, as the elgato website compatibility list does say that the community is tested this camera successfully but using a dummy battery power supply. I have one on order that will be here this Saturday, but I'm stuck feeling like this is going to plague me forever.
Does anybody have any insight they may be able to offer as to a solution for my issue? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
