I know we cant use some of the new EL, due to the hot shoe issues. Right now I have a old 580EX Version 1. Whats a good flash I can get and use a trigger for OCF? Is Godox the game in town? If so what do you recommend. My 580EX looks like its ready to fall apart, it was free anyways.

I'm happy with my Godox V860IIc and Godox triggers (X2Tc and Xpro-c). They play with Godox AD600's, AD300Pro's and AD200Pro.

I'm not a pro, but heavily into studio portraiture. I primarily use the V860II's on camera for event and outdoor run-and-gun shooting using TTL.

TTL can be a bit wobbly, so I shoot raw+jpg for the extra headroom.

Depends what you want. Godox is big around here because it's cheap yet still decent quality. Therefore, it's considered value. The V1 is the top of their speedlite range and can be used OCF. In addition, if you need a backup trigger, the V1 can act as a trigger to trigger other Godox OCF units.

Maybe you can explain what you are looking for in a flash and what you might need it for in the future. That would better help us understand what would suit your needs.

I’m hyped with my Profoto setup—it’s smooth across systems if you got the right triggers. And yeah, Broncolor’s worth a look too if you wanna deliver.
