R5 Buffer Clearing

The buffer is 42 images, it has to write to the cfe after that, in my case a 128G Sony Tough.

And, oops, it was regular raw. With CRAW the buffer is 84 images.

I have a R3 and noticed that now the Camera's buffer clear speed is different when out of the box.
It's very slow! I need a minute to clear the buffer (about 150 shots) ! What the h.....

Does the problem on the CFE card?
Firmware? Card get old? Format? Slow SD Card?

On Pergear CFE card web site, it has a table said that R3 6K RAW need 325MB/s, ok, I try start a 6K video shooting.
That's no problem on 6K RAW Video, that's mean my card at least write at 325MB/s, so it's not make sense it need a minute to write that 150 photos.

Than, I pick up the camera, play around on the MENU, I got the answer: Photo Processing.
HDR, Lighting Optimizer, Noise reduction, Lens aberration correction.... all features need Camera to process.

Try disable them all, buffer clear instantly.

It's very repeatable and predictable.

So to preface, I disabled just about all the extra features. There are only normal functions running. But what I found is, if you are looking through the EVF while waiting for the buffer to clear it takes approximately twice as long for the buffer to clear than if you were to take your eye away or use the LCD. So, with the CF Express card it takes around 6 seconds to clear a buffer (8 or 9 with CRAW), and the SD takes around 12-16 seconds. But when you look through the EVF, the CF Express card takes around double at 12'ish seconds and the same with the SD card doubling to around 24'ish seconds.

To test it for yourself, it's not very difficult or picky. Simply fill up the buffer and time how long it takes the write light to go out. I suggest using electronic shutter to limit wear and tear. Try it both ways (using the EVF and LCD) and it will be clear. You can even mix and match the viewing screen use and see it prorate one way or the other.

When I had an R3 at my disposal I forgot to test this. I'd like to know if it is a problem or not. My testing was done purely on an R5.

I reported it to Canon, and they seemed to acknowledge it, but I haven't seen an update for it. So, I assume it's a hardware limitation like processing concerns.

I tried it on my R5 with e-shutter, CRAW in M mode. Holding down the shutter for 10 seconds gave me 106 images with all the correction options disabled and 108 images with DLO, PI, correction etc enabled. To me, that's the same performance for both.
Or do you think that CRAW processing slowed the write speed down?
CRAW improves the buffer duration and slows the write speed down, which makes sense. The act of compressing the file takes time and has to be done in succession.

Those numbers are low, I'm guessing you have something extra enabled that is complicating the process. In e-shutter I get about 230 with CRAW and 115 with RAW with my 128GB Sony CFexpress.

I'm talking about the buffer counter next to the picture remaining counter:
