Pop up flash

Push the flash button on the left side of the lens mount to manually bring up the built-in flash, otherwise, unless you've disabled it in the menu, it will pop up automatically if it needs to when you depress the shutter button halfway.

I looked under menu and the flash control command does not appear.
There is a button on the side of your camera.....you have to be in a shooting mode (AV, TV are shooting modes) or put it on green square.

My advice would be learn to use your camera. The manual is a must read. If you have yet to read it....you really need to.

Edit..the button has a flash symobol on it...Again though read your manual. When used in other modes besides Auto, results are not the same.

Fill flash is used in some modes and so on. Again read your manual.

It does not pop up in any mode I use and yes I know where that button is.

The Flash control does not appear in the menu set up neat r Red Eye Reduction.

Did you enable flash?
Not sure why you keep brining up red eye...

Under flash control or some other option there is a flash=enable

Put it on green square and try in a dark room. If it doesn't come up its either diabled, stuck or broken.

On green square flash will always come up if needed. Its not user assignable.

So you are saying that you cannot see the Flash Control menu item? Correct?

As for the flash not coming up, it will not do so if the camera thinks there is an external flash attached. This has been discussed a number of times, apparently a few 60D's (and other models) have had sticky hot shoe micoswitches. If you have fitted a flash unit and removed it, the micro switch might be stuck down.

This is one example....

BTW, are you SURE you have tried every mode?

The menu item "Flash Control" is not visible in Basic Shooting mode according to page 46 of my manual.

This also happens with my 7D after I have used a Rode microphone. A quick slip of something thin into the springs on the hot-shoe does the trick to let the camera know that nothing is attached and so the flash will pop up when necessary. Best

i want to thank everyone for their post. I took the camera back to the dealer and he would not exchange it because I had registered it. I call the Canon repair center and spoke with tech support and had no luck in resolving the problem.

Ther Repair center is only 100 miles from where I live so I decided to send it back for repair. I also informed the center of all the problems that have been reported here. I also spoke to the person I brought the camera from and told hm based on all the posts I have read that it would be a good idea to check all the other 60d's that he has in stock.

Once again thanks,

I hope when it comes back from repair that I don't have that problem again.
