I posted a version of this in the landscape forum but think I should have posted it here. Looking across Cave Dale to peveril Castle at Castleton in the UK's Derbyshire Peak District. Taken yesterday on a lovely sunny spring day but a definite haze and virtually no clouds made for a featureless sky.

Gotta admit to liking taking shots of castles, this one was built around 1176 by King Henry II.

Hope you enjoyed.

I'm not sure about the B&W option here. The tower is difficult to identify, it's too close of the cliff... I would be interested to see the colour version, if you kept one.

I tried some cropping, but removing the valley and this lonely tree at the left is a bit annoying, so I wonder if selecting a different vantage point could make the image easier to read. May be lower, in order for the dungeon to appear against the sky?

Nice place, anyway. I'd like to visit this area some of these days!

Cheers Rick, yup, of course you're right :-) I try not to cross post as I don't think it's site etiquette but I do try to post in the most appropriate forum and b&w should really be here (in my opinion), especially when I had a colour shot that I was going to include in a landscape set.

Cheers for the comments Cherry, fair points made and as if by magic...

No real processing for this one but a colour shot from further up the Dale looking back.

I like the colour version, it's easier to read than the B&W IMO...

The point of view was well chosen, one can see it when comparing with the second image, which appears much more mundane by comparison.

Thanks again Cherry, to be fair the colour processing with the shot from high up is so muted it's not far off b&w in itself but it's a look that I am liking more and more at the moment, though that may change next week ;-) :-D

Yes, it works pretty well in this case. Nice to see a landscape that was not massacred by outrageous, surreal colours.
