Pentax review up for more than a few hours... for once!

We will see how long it takes my thread to get deleted/me to gat banned.

Franklly I dont care any more. If cretins like PhilBarton can post
with impunity and the rest of us are censored then I for one will
take my interest elsewhere. It people like him who make the internet
worthless for anyone looking for real information.
Well put Steve. He is the village Id*ot as far as I am concerned.
The only people who suffer in the end are people who rely on review
sites. Pretty soon the internet will be a waste of time because it is
rapidly becoming a vehicle for viral negative publicity which is
pernicious and extremely effective, and which is being sponsored by
major companies.

If DPReview is not alert to this threat, it will become a joke like
most forums on the internet.
My prevous response challanging phill's lack of logic was deleted
into Orwellian space.

I am amazed at how consistenly vehement he is with really specious
arguments.

If in fact the site counts each click from the same user as unique,
and assuming that Pentax fan boys are loading the votes, the Canon
fan club, which is probably 5-10x size of the Pentax "fan boys" will
be also be loading the site by an order of magnitude greater than
Pentax.

When I can master technique I'll be a photographer.
When I can realise a vision I'll be an artist.
When I get paid I'll be a professional.

FWIW 'clicks' are clicks per session, not pageviews or individual clicks, hence reloading the same page/review will count only once.

There you have it. The definitive explanation.

No one, anywhere, ever got something for nothing without someone, somewhere, getting nothing for something.

Thanks Phil

And thanks for running the most comprehensive site on the web in digital photography.

Other publications such as Consumer Reports try to test these products but this site exceeds them

If DPReview is not alert to this threat, it will become a joke like
most forums on the internet.
Most forums have always been like this. I've participated, for years, in a variety of forums for various brands and products: cars, hand-held computers, cameras, musicial artists, games, etc. And ALL of these forums have a small population of regulars who repeat, ad nauseum, how the particular subject or brand is a bad choice or a poor product, or just flat out s#cks! They are usually called Trolls, and there's just no avoiding them. Hopefully dpreview will intruduce an 'ignore' filter for their forums eventually. Their motivation is a mystery to me.

As to DPREVIEW - obviously some of the Pentax adherents have figured
out that you can just click and click and click on that review, and
your "vote" (because that's what it's become) gets counted over and
over. They would have to log clicks by user to deny duplicates, and
I think anyone, member or not, can click on the K20D review (but not
participate in the forums). That would require tracking cookies to
deny repeated clicks.

The current click-share of course becomes the equivalent of a "rigged
election".
I'm new here, so help me understand your post. Do you know for a fact that people are "repeat voting", or is this speculation on your part. And if you know they are doing it, is it because you've done it yourself?

Yes, I like Pentax, and have since my ME Super days. But at least I don't go on Nikon or Cannon boards and accuse their supporters of making false votes - or rigged elections as you refer to them.

As a side note, I thought the review was very fair, honest and well written. Is there something in the review itself you find in error?
