Janneman02,

What is the problem? Why are you so unhappy when you are so lucky not to have this stained sensor problem? I have posted about my gratitude to early adopters before. It is on record. I pointed out that we should thank them for doing beta testing for us and paying big to do so, while risking problems... But I also pointed out the risk with early buying.

"Counter productive to Pentax"? I care more about customers more than the company when there are issues like SDM or stained sensors. Is that selfish? Whose side are you on? You work for Pentax?

I had tried to be helpful by pointing out problems and providing warnings. And in this case, I am trying to alert others, about the need to be open-minded, read the negative things, read Rice High's and whoever's criticisms and check them out first before rejecting everything "negative".

The occurence or problems is really strange, or coincidental. Everybody noticed however how the strongest defenders of Pentax happen to be the ones who never had a problem ever with their Pentax products?.. Raphael, you, John Dee, ...
Wanted to point this out to newbies, because there it could be important for them.

The millions who make up the vast majority of DSLR users including many top photogs must be all dumb not to use Pentax.

this is some good information.
it really makes me wonder about being an early adopter.

consider a broader application than just the context of your re-posted repartee.

do you really want to be the first kid to touch the hot stove or the first car jumping off a green light into an intersection? in the first case something bad is guaranteed. in the second, you might just get to work sooner.

i just wonder who will be the toasted toddler or the energetic employee.

what we really need is instruction on how to determine the odds, count the cards, scratch-off the winner.

i worry about being a late adopter... what if you new old-stock! or, if you are sold something someone else has returned!! i don't think there is ever a truly "safe" time to buy...

The drawbacks of being 1st to get the hot new product is not limited to Pentax, nor even to cameras. I don't need G's wise counsel to know that the 1st buyers will pay the highest price for the least-tested item.

Pointing that obvious fact out doesn't make G or anyone else a troll, but suggesting that it's a phenomenon unique to Pentax does.

Early adopters take their chances, it seems that Pentax is doing the right thing by replacing the cameras.

Not a problem for me, can't afford a new body and only have 13,000 clicks on my K200d anyway, would rather spend the money on the glass.

Starting this thread is ridiculous, in my opinion.

Threads linking to threads serve no purpose. Should I start a thread linking to this thread?

Sheesh.

No, because you're not a troll. The OP is the second entry into my ignore list.
And who was the first? Was he the alter ego of Mr. MFZoom? :)

Why does dpreview continue to allow a self serving troll to operate two accounts?

.

What good does putting someone on your ignore list do if you go ahead and respond to his thread anyway!?

Don't feed the trolls!

I always buy late and by that I mean around 12 months or more on the shelf. That way you can at least have an idea of any issues etc. The other reason is simply getting a better deal on bodies. Price always falls and in some cases significantly too.

I'm sure the sensor problem spots etc will be sorted out I'd def send that in ala warranty claim.

In short some people want a Pentax Problems thread as a "sticky" and linking a saturated thread in to the other is their way of doing it.

Nothing to see here, just Gazooma trying to steer people away from Pentax... using as many accounts as necessary ;)

And some, like this poster, quote their own words, posted by their alter ego, giving the impression they are a neutral party pointing to wise words, when it's actually nothing more than self aggrandizing.

Pentax has its problems/issues, but so do all brands....they also do some great things too.... Right now, Pentax has some very nice cameras that for many will be better than the competiton.

There are some on this forum....including the OP and Gazooma (who may or may not be one and the same) who take great delight in letting us know endlessly about those problems but never or almost never about the good things.

While I think it fair to discuss issues and especially if you HAVE an issue. the serial whiners mostly do NOT have the issues (and/or mostly do not have the cameras/lenses that have those issues or even if they do it is not something they ever demonstrate). For them it is loudly and often saying what is wrong with Pentax, the messaage not the content and seemingly so that will scare people off to other brands.....in Gazoomas case he said he was leaving to something else yet he is still here.

If Pentax is not for you, thats fine, there are lots of brands that are great ...lots of choice now. I would reccomend people try pentax for theselves if possible, read the reviews and look at pics....I would be questioning why someone with so little invested in Pentax as for instance Gazooma has, spends soooo much time here trolling instead of moving on and being happy elsewhere.
