Pen-F - my first week with it

I am also very interested in the E-M1 Mkiii. I am not that interested in the E-M5 Mkiii, but it will be interested in seeing what it brings to the market and might give one a guess what to expect in the E-M1 Mkiii. I would love a Pen F Pro.
Wow! Great idea - Pen F Pro. Elon Musk would probably agree too :)
You’ll only be allowed to use pancake lenses on it though, for fear of forum wrath ....
I'm sure the reason then would be: use Pro WR lenses only, else you're 'wasting' the Pro PEN-F's WR feature...

[WR = weather resistant]
Wow... a Pro WR pancake lens. Sign me up for both the Pen F Pro, and the pancake Pro.

Why not.

Most likely he did for some of the reasons I would. My reasons would be:

1. Why not use a great lens with a great camera.

2. Using a f1.2 lens instead of a slower lens will allow you to use f1.2 if you need to for either low light or subject separation.

3. The f1.2 primes renders a better image that the f1.8 primes.

I own all three f1.2 pro primes and all the f1.8 or f2.0 premium primes and I usually grab the f1.2 pro primes when I go out. I just like them better. Now if size is an issue and photography is secondary I might pack the premium primes.

Spot on! We think alike!
Still confused.

The Pen F and the 17mm f/1.8 were basically designed in tandem and made for each other.

Pity they didn't design a decent lens hood when they designed the 17/f1.8

I've not posted for a while. I got arrested by the camera police for using an offensive camera/lens combo, but they let me off ;-)

Had some fun with the Pen-F and the 45mm 1.2 Pro yesterday. I normally only use the 17mm 1.2 when on walkabout, so this was a challenge for me. I quite like these two resultant images, both SOOC jpegs again:

Really like your adjustments with these! Keep abusing those rules.

I went through the small camera/big lens phase at one point. Camera police never took the slightest bit of interest in me, but it got tiresome real real quick. Wasn't comfortable at all, a bit painful to be honest, but hey, everyone is different. Not the slightest bit interested in going back there. Ever

That would make a pretty strong contender in a frankencamera competition. :-)

One of the main deciding factors to jump into m4/3 to be honest. Adapting/fitting large lenses to small bodies just doesn't make any sense to me at all. I tried an EM5? or 10 previously, it did nothing to change my mind either. My GX8 was really excellent for size/comfort/ergos, my G9 perfect :) Supremely comfortable, brilliant ergos, light weight with the appropriate lenses, and I'm no giant :)

Once somebody's kit gets fleshed out you can have an m4/3 camera-lens combo of any size for any occasion. I can't name another format with a range as broad as GM1 to E-M1X, with lenses to match with both. No 600/2.8s but that's okay too, you can always adapt a Canon if that floats your boat.

Cheers,

Rick
