Panoramic: Wrong sequence help.

Hey everyone,

I took some panoramic pictures at Ozone Falls yesterday (see my thread "Ozone Falls") but when I came home and tried to stitch them together to my horror I had gone in the wrong direction.
I've read somewhere on here that you can fix that. How do I fix it?
The only programs I have is the Camedia and Macromedia Fireworks.

Have you tried "stitching" them anyway.

You won't loose the original files, if it doesn't work you could try one of the other stitching programs..

There are a lot of smart folks on this forum that will help you. The only program I use is Camedia. Can you drag and drop in the sequence you want? I don't use the Oly pano feature, I shoot a lot of pics and later, I see a series I took as seperate pics, I just stitch them together.
 
it seems from my first experiments that even tho the Panorama choice under Stitch uses the photos 1-3 as left to right, when I select Panorama 2D I could drag and drop. Does that help any?
 
Well, if you're handy with a hex file editor, you can fix those files right
up. from a posting at the oly2100 Yahoo group:

In the never-ending quest to get around having to use Olympus brand
SmartMedia cards to take advantage of Camedia's quick and easy panoramic
function, a fellow 'Olympian' and co-worker showed me how to modify an
EXIF format image to get Camedia to recognize it as part of a panoramic
series. I took three shots side-by-side, not in panoramic mode this last
weekend, made the modifications, and it worked like a charm. Again, it
MUST be in EXIF format.

1) Open your image in a HEX editor (I use Ultra-Edit)
2) Find line 430h - (in FX-Edit.. that's Record #4, 4th line hence 4-30)
3) Change the first seven bytes from "00 00 00 00 00 00 00" to "00 00 03
00 00 00 01". In this case, the "01" is the sequence number, so for the
second shot in the series, the seventh byte would be set to "02", and so
on.
4) Save the image (as a different filename, to be safe), and if you look
at it in Camedia, it'll display the sequence number as if it had been
taken using the Pan function.

Again, as much as I'd like to take credit for this, it goes to my
colleague (and immediate supervisor =^) Scott. Thanks, bud!

I've tried it, and it works. You should only have to change the sequence
numbers.

now hmmmm...how does the camedia recognize the file anyway? how about switching the name? renaming the last one as the first and vice versa? or is there more to it?

in worse case i can fix it for you in photoshop if all else fail, cheep up :)

ho i guess that answer my question about renaming the file. i was wondering if the info was stored with file name of numbering.

thanks for the info on that one..it might come in handy :)

Here we go again. A program called LivePix SE has included in it a utility called PhotoVista. This is a super easy stitching program that allows putting photos in any order. It also does not require the use of an Olympus smartmedia card nor the Olympus panorama mode, just pictures overlapped about 25 to 30 percent.
 
Where does one buy this program and how much is it?
I thought livepicture went out of business (or was sold) quite some time
ago. livepicture.com sends you to MGI's page which informs you that
Roxio has bought them. They sell a stand-alone PhotoVista for $49.95.

Why do that when For free he can get a hex editor and fix the
sequence numbers?

Oly's Camedia Master 2.5 lets you do stitching of any photos, not just the ones you shot in pano. Also lets you rearrange them. So unless I missed something, I don't understand what's the problem. Do you have the latest Camedia Master 2.5? Also Camedia Master is coming out with a newer viersion. Other people on this site should have some information on that. I haven't used pano that much, but it is fun and I have had no problem other then taking good pictures. Good luck.

You're right. But I believe that is only true of Camadia Master 2.5 and not the older versions.
