Panasonic HDR: the auto-alignment that doesn't.

I wonder if there is something the camera’s software/firmware can’t correct such as moving fore/aft or whatever.

The HDR feature doesn’t produce very good HDRs and offers no user control...phones do a better job and HDR helps the phones compete.

Ken you do seem to have been magically lucky. My gx85, gx9, and g85 were all identically and completely useless in hand held hdr. They all failed to some degree to align every time. While years ago my Sony a6000 and a7 never failed to align in thousands of handheld hdr shots. As pointed out by others panasonic cameras are perfectly capable of excellent alignment in other modes. This is very disappointing

Yep, my Panasonics also fail to auto-align HDR shots properly most of the time (regardless of lens used, shutter speed or mechanical vs electronic shutter). Strangely, my G9 is by far the worst of them at it, as it never manages it properly (I have of course checked that auto alignment is on, and it can be seen in some odd effects that the failed process creates). There is one exception though, which baffles me - if I switch the G9 to its fully auto iA mode and let the HDR function kick in automatically (indicated by a grey edge border popping up in the EVF or on the screen to indicate the cropping that auto alignment will cause) and it aligns the results perfectly. Mystifying. Like others who experience this, I don’t get this problem with my other cameras.
