Hi all,

I have just joined the forum as I need to disable recording limit in 4k video recording in my NX500 and hope you will be able to help. I was thinking about buying Sony a6400 but on the other hand I love the photo quality of my NX500 and believe this is still the best sensor in its class (much better than a6400) and also because I have 4 lenses.

Today I have found the following post (below) by otto k:

"To have unlimited 4k/UHD on NX500 you need to hack your camera as described here".

I have tried to use the link but it is too complicated for me. Is there any simple way step by step how to do it? I would be very thankful if someone who has done it already could guide me as I really don't want to sell this excellent camera?

For people wanting to remove the 30 min recording limit without hacking the camera:

https://github.com/ottokiksmaler/nx...emoving_Movie_Recording_Limit_Without_Hack.md

NOTE: This only removes 30 min limit. To have unlimited 4k/UHD on NX500 you need to hack your camera as described here

https://github.com/ottokiksmaler/nx500_nx1_modding/tree/master/nx-on-wake

and here https://github.com/ottokiksmaler/nx500_nx1_modding/tree/master/video-bitrate-mods/nx-patch

P.S. Ha - this is my 1500th post, nice as I have NX1000 and NX500 - combined together NX1500

I'll have to see if there is a simpler mod already available if this is complicated for you (or you are not comfortable doing it like this) but the correct way is to follow the Vasiles post here

https://github.com/ottokiksmaler/nx500_nx1_modding/blob/master/nx-on-wake/README.txt

Do you need to shoot longer videos rarely or do you prefer doing it once and having it removed forever as you shoot longer videos all the time?

Also, there is still a 74 minutes limit in 4k and 120 minutes in other modes - if you record past that the camera crashes and you get unreadable file.

Many thanks mate for your response.

I have found what I was looking for and installed without any problems and I am very happy now:

I record only 4k. 75 min is ok but is there any way to make camera stop recording automatically before 75 min or I have to remember and do it manually?

Thanks again.

I think I made some mods that do that, but it was a few years ago and I would have to check where I put it. I'll post it here if I find it.

Many thanks for your help.

I also don't mind if camera stops 4k recording for a second after about 60 min and then starts recording again automatically for at least 30 min, if possible?

If you could kindly let me know if there is any risk that such long recording times, let's say about 2-3 times a day for a week or so, may cause any malfunction?

Thank you very much.
