Hey!

today I received some new info:

- slightly larger than NX1

- water and dust proof

- no rangefinder design (?)

- AF: 154 Cross-Type-Sensors (!)

Cheers!

NX1 is slightly larger than NX1. Do you mean NX30?

154 x-type sensor? WOW ! (if true)

looks like Samsung is heading for performance and action photography.

how about processor, ram?

Nice, it does annoy me a bit that most mirrorless are vertical line sensitive only.

I am excited, hope rumors pan out.

I'd go GAGA if they made it Dual-Cross.

but 154 X-type is already an insane number. I guess making it dual-x might not seem feasible anymore considering how an improved hybrid AF (CD/PD pixel sensors) in conjunction with X-type sensors would work. besides, the newer mirrorless cameras with hybrid AF have really improved and are really fast especially for continuous focus and tracking. I can only imagine a camera with an insanely fast AF with insane focus accuracy to boot.

this could work well with the focus by wire lenses and fast lenses to improve AF significantly and seem to rival Canon's accurately fast AF professional high-end cameras (atleast on paper). atleast on paper, it does suggest it to be the fastest. camera appear to be revolutionary as far as mirrorless AF is concerned. considering camera also seem to prioritize UHD video, it does appear logical that camera should have such focusing detection or sensing capacity.

question now is, who else have such capacity? especially in upcoming Photokina.

... are sure it isn't 154 AF system.. and then cross type was another number? jumping from 105 PDAF points and 3 Cross Type to 154 cross type PDAF points seems lie a giant jump. If true that would be really awesome.

Agree, one has to wonder if this may be a case of Chinese Whispers at work?

Here's my favourite such example:"Send Three and Fourpence, we're going to a dance!".

In any case, I'm sure we'll get some accurate specs soon enough, with Photokina coming soon.

I have no idea about technical specs about processor and ram.

I just told him, that I have sometimes some probs with the processing speed with the NX30.

My source answered this should be a problem from the past ;)

He although mentioned that Samsung wants to "anger" CaNikon with this camera....

But... it's still a rumor. Hopefully we will see the NX1 soon enough.

Cheers!

I just hope that it is indeed x-type and not a mis-type. because looking at it is really unbelievable spec for NX1 especially how I'm very familiar with Canon's remarkable AF and what their latest camera offering have in terms of AF performance.

I understand the skepticism considering that cross-type in mirrorless with hybrid AF is unheard of or not yet common. not sure if Samsung is the only milc with cross type sensor. although it is limited to 3 sensors at the center only.

an increase in PDAF points though seem likely for an improved AF, but not exactly something that would rival the other faster MILC's nor would make it a top of the line unit. but we will see.

One more thing:

The EVF shall be so good, that you can't difference between the EVF and the real world. (But this sounds like marketing blabla to me ;-) )

First time Samsung doing something like this, or? I like it ;)
Very interesting. The three images offer no further details when put through some PP.

One thing I would guess is the silver knob pictured may be the mode dial which can lock and unlock by pulling it upward to turn and upon release it pulls downward to lock its position.

This would be a Pro feature, IMO.

I am very content with the EVF of my NX 30:

Any improvement would be icing on the cake for me.

And you'll be able to see things you can't see with your eyes (with Predator settings) :-D

Maybe a brand like Samsung with a "fresh" state of mind will add those things I've always wanted to see in a full digital camera :

- some kind of "DOF peaking", showing what's supposed to be in focus according to the actual settings and more usable then optical preview.

- digital distance scale, displayed on screen and ability to lock a value when doing MF, as we could do with non-AF lenses. Useful for hyperfocal and infinity.

Good ideas, sounds very workable as well re: DOF.
