It was a new lens, less than 2 months old. Drop from waist height,
while I was trying to change lens. The camera was hanging on my
neck, I try to swap it out for the 50mm f/1.8. Thank god for AMEX
Purchase Protection Plan. They credit me back the price of the
lens.

Now that I know that the plastic fantastic is not quite well built.
Upgrade to Canon 17-40.

Drop my Hoya Pro 1 77mm C-PL
the filter on friday, drop it on Saturday morning, after 30 minutes
of used. Apperently the thread came loose, while I had my camera
hang on my shoulder. Thanks god again for purchasing it with AMEX.
The Purchase Protection Plan credit me back.

Moral of the story, sh1t happen, it's how you deal with it, or
prepare for it.

And I'll admit the suggestion came to me in a time of sheer panic at the thought of my beloved camera being almost out of commission for two months waiting for my main lens to be fixed. You guys are right though, and trust me I know how easy it is to go on a negative rant after a cr@ppy day. Don't worry about it. I'm weighing my options right now and I'll check up on eBay later to see what current resell rates are on 17-85 IS's should I decide to just buy one for the interim. Thanks for talking me out of a potentially bad situation...

didnt mean to sound that negative back there...its been a rotten
day here. but still, just buy the lens and sell it on ebay if you
dont need it. i have been getting close to the original purchase
price on the things that i sell. also...see you tinkerbell thread,
i posted another idea for you.
