Nikon Z8 HDMI output doesn't work in 8k

I have a 1080p monitor connected via HDMI. It displays fine in all modes resolutions frame rates etc. unless in any of those modes I go into 8k, at which point it stops sending signal (or my monitor stops receiving it). I've tried going into the HDMI settings and tried every output resolution and limiting mode. Has anyone been able to monitor their camera via HDMI in an 8k video record mode?
