New Nx camera with android.picture & info.

The image shown in the story looks like the mirrorless camera might be an NX30, or a new type, but using Android OS?

If this is the nx 30 it is all touchscreen on the back so if not android then maybe Tizen ?

Notice the entire rear screen is a very large touch screen. Man, a display that huge would be awesome, but not sure about lack of controls. If done right it could be okay. iFn would help add a lot too.

This link has better pictures of it:

Looks like a simplified NX20 with a huge Android-powered touchscreen on the back. I hope Samsung don't think this is an NX20 replacement!

This link is showing a different camera to the one in my main link in this post note that the blue button adjacent to the shutter button is missing in this press leak model ???

Edit also if you look at the original blurrycam picture the one at the

back has a white button, pre production models ?

Yeah, I really hope that's not the NX20 replacement. That thing could never replace the NX20, there's no physical controls at all on the back! You simply can not use a touch screen only device for serious photography. And the tilt and swivel LCD that I've come to love seems to be gone - replaced by an enourmous touch screen, it appears. Yikes. The first thing that comes to mind, is where I usually put my thumb on (to adjust EV by a wheel in Canons and press the adjustment trigger button in NX) I now put it on the touch screen... :/

And to top it off (godd*mnit Samsung!) they have not improved my no:1 peeve of the NX20 - the EVF diopter adjustment, which is too easily knocked and misadjusted - they have made it even *bigger and more protruding!* What the h***?

Oh, and there doesn't seem to be an adjustment wheel anywhere in the camera. If this thing is real, my fears of Samsung's downfall into a toy camera manufacturer will become true. I hope it isn't so.

To me, an Android camera would make more sense on a non-EVF camera, like the NX 300. Looking through an EVF you need tactile controls you can adjust by touch, which is not a touch screen. At least you have iFn and a few controls.

I think it is an odd choice, will see what it costs and how well it works before I consider something like that. I like the articulated screen too much on the NX20 to replace it with that monster screen, although it does look nice and large :)

If that is not a fake image, samsung could then make two parallel lines, one with more physical controls, smaller lcd (nx 300, nx30) one with touch only, android os and larger lcd (galaxy nx)

I like the idea that Samsung uses he popularity of the Galaxy name to make the world hear about NX cameras, but I won't replace my good old NX10 with this one. An interesting convergence, but not the camera I'm waiting for (I feel crazy enough to wait for NX-30 or NX-R :-p)

By the way, I can't help thinking that Samsung should bring a new 30mm ifn and propose a body+30mm kit as an alternative to the body+18-55 usual option.

Maybe that's what samsung has done.look closely at the original picture in my post. The camera at the front with blue button could be a full manual control version nx 30 (we can't see the back) whilst the one at the back with white button could be the galaxy nx version.

also because it would be VERY strange to have a top-of-the-line nx30 with no physical controls...when the nx300 has plenty. I personally would never exchange a set of physical controls with "virtual" touch ones. For example, the nx300 allows many settings to be changed by touch, through the fn button, but I never use this way.

and it would also be really odd, to say the least, to have a nx300 based on tizen and a nx30 based on android...very different philosophies, imho.

much better, two distinct and parallel lines, to accomodate everyone's tastes, and all with the gorgeous nx lenses.

What is interesting in those picture is the lack of symbol on the top wheel. Notice nothing about the usual M, P, A, Scene, etc...

So I'm thinking. Could it be possible that those option would now be on the screen and the top wheel would be for setting up your aperture, shutter speed, etc.

I could work with that. They can't rely totaly on the iFN lense since some of them don't have that fonction ( 30mm for exemple ).

to me that Galaxy NX is an NX2000 with EVF... thats it. But its no upgrade to the NX20 being the top line product.

It has to many similarities to to the NX2000 from the physical layout so that I as well assume that Tizen and Android are both OS lines within Samsung up to that point when they decide to drop one of it ;-)

wow,no manual controls.

Its sad to say but i do think the NX200 will be my last Samsung. I just keep looking at what fuji do with envy while Samsung seem to missing the point that a camera should be about enhancing the experience and connection of taking photos.

I do think this style is a good move to get more market from the lower end dslrs, but touch screens and menus aren't for me :(

I also hope Samsung Don't use "this" Galaxy NX product to replace NX20/10...
Not only because of the virtual buttons...but also, and most important...is Android Booting Time!!!
No customers accept the booting time of TOP LINE Professional Camera is more than 30sec or even longer..
I told Samsung in Facebook last year, I suggest them don't use Android to replace the whole NX Line...
We need FAST Booting Camera such as within 0.1 sec....and of coz, the picture quality too.
I like Android Phone, but not in Camera.
Simple OS is perfect...

So, if u agree my idea, please, tell Samsung in Facebook....
Keep the Traditional OS Line...
Samsung will listen our voice, but unfortunately, they won't read this forum, but in their Facebook page.

Vincent.

The overall shape looks good but the lack of buttons does not.

I don't think there are two models in that picture. The white and blue circles just look like stickers to me, not buttons. Note that both cameras have the same 'mode dial', i.e. it's not a mode dial but an unlablled control dial. I certainly hope they have an NX30 up their sleeves as well as this Galaxy NX.

It just seems so strange to me to make a touchscreen-dominated camera that has an EVF. Mirrorless cameras with EVF tend to be premium models, but users of these cameras are not clamouring for touchscreens. I don't get what demographic this camera is aimed at.

I agree 100%. All the ppl asking for a nx300 with evf won't like this camera with no physical controls, and all those who would like a smartcamera won't like its form factor...

I just hope this is not the only route samsung intends to go with nx.

I think they just determined we needed a new way to use our cameras. By looking through the EVF on this proposed model, you will be able to use your nose to select options, and your tongue to swipe left/right, or up and down, then kiss the screen to take the shot. All the selections will display in the EVF.
