New firmware for S1

I have these problems (Flash overexposure) and continuous LCD/EVF freeze

will try to update tonight when I get home.

I hope it also fixes the tendency to overexpose during strong light by automatically adjusting to EV-1/3 or -2/3!

i wonder if this problem is solved:

when using the flash to properly expose a motive with very bright backlight during daytime (e.g. trying to take a portrait with the sun behind the motive on a very sunny day on a greek island) the motive was properly exposed whilst the backgroung was horribly overexposed. thats why i asked for a fill in flash mode in my rating of the S1 in the user opinions section on this site (btw the user opinions section has been opened just recently).

Maybe I did have these problems...

Someone call 911, they have just given a bran new life to the poweshot s1 IS..

Is this the end of focus freeze¿?

Tell me about the changes in the way images are displayed in Continuous AF Mode

The changes make it possible to check the subject’s movement on the LCD monitor or through the viewfinder even when the shutter button is half-pressed.

Tell me about the overexposure phenomenon that occurred during daytime synchronized shooting

When taking daytime synchronized shots, because the aperture value was not automatically adjusted to the synchronized flash speed, some shots could be overexposed, but this has been fixed so that the right exposure can be obtained.

Just thought I'd let you all know it works fine! :)
Updated my camera just now.
I experienced no problems with installing the new firmware update.

Make sure you use fully charged batterys and read/follow instructions to the letter.

NB: Also make sure you use an empty CF card - as you need to format it before uploading the firmware to the camera.
make sure you SAVE off those piccys first :)

As a side note just out of interest did anyone here already have the new firmware installed, the way to tell apparently is if you have a visible black dot on the CF door.

Overseer. -even more happy now.

Hi fellow S1 users,

Just updated my firmware... Works like a charm!

Tested the claimed firmware fix of the freeze on contininous auto focus.
It works!... This makes the S1 a whole new camera for action shots!

Pan and follow the moving subject in the LCD or EVF while half pressing
the shutter... constant live preview...no more focus freeze!

S1... Economical alternative to DSLR for action shots with IS lens ?

Eat your heart out Pro1 users :-)

Kind Regards

While I am waiting for my batteries to charge, can someone try the
continuous mode and see if the image still freezes between shots?
Yes on continuous shooting mode LCD still freezes, firmware fix is only good for panning a moving target and focusing without freeze on single shot

Kind Regards
Richard Higgs

Hopefully us Pro1 users will get a new firmware update in a few days.
At least we better.

Greg
Hi Greg,

I'm sure they will... The Pro1 is a great camera.

Now if only Canon would put out another firmware update giving the S1... The ability to save in RAW.... You would have one hell of a camera for the money :-)

Kind Regards
