New build - comments?

If the OP has a digital license, there's no need to contact Microsoft unless there's an issue elsewhere....

Windows 10 activated with a digital license
Windows 10 activated with a digital license

I've changed hardware a few times to include motherboard CPU, RAM, and main OS drive all at the same time, and still never had to call Microsoft to activate when using my Microsoft Account.
Naturally, I tried the easiest way first. :-)

No go after my last motherboard change. I think there was confusion because I have two Windows boot drives on the same physical PC with two different MS accounts; one install is a full retail (primary drive) and one is a freebie Insider RP ring (gaming/testing drive).

Doesn't matter, after a chat session the MS rep gave me new keys for each and all is well.

Your post is confusing here....
Your Win10 was an upgrade from Win7. With the Win10 retail upgrade license, you're allowed one transfer of that license.
Define "retail upgrade" because I'm not sure your statement is correct?

I've upgraded 2 desktop machines from Windows 7, and a laptop from Windows 8, and I've had no issues upgrading hardware (MB, CPU, GPU, RAM, Drives) or doing a clean reinstall of the OS, and getting Windows activated via digital license. And it's not just me, but many others.
If you purchased Win10 retail, you can transfer the license more than once.
Which one is it?

Well, if my new build runs for another 5 years by then i may not care about a subsequent upgrade. But thanks for the info.
