Need to choose between 3 flashguns. Help appreciated

Perhaps I missed something. However, in my testing of the Promaster 7500, I felt it was a good flash but not especially powerful. It seemed to be weak when using bounce flash.

I will assume others such as the AF540 are more powerful. However I enjoy the flash power of the 7500EDF and it has more power than I ever need; even in the largest of rooms (not churches...) in large gathering rooms I still don't find power lacking. I believe your experience however. But if your experience is a flash such as the AF360 has more power in bounce or any mode this is not my experience, owing both.

On Adorama:
Metz 58 AF-1 = $404.
Pentax AF540FGZ = $400.

Sigma is much cheaper, yes.
But Metz 48 AF-1: $225.

Unfortunately, there are some who do not read the OPs requirements when making recommendations. Some who did not research well and just bought some expensive stuff, which they think then give them more right and wisdom and photographic skills, justifying their purchases and ignoring the truth. There are good reviews, and in fact many threads on this forum that clearly indicates that the Pentax units are clearly inferior compared to the Metz equivalent models. Are the guys driving the expensive Maseratis all great drivers and engineers, and know the details of their cars?

I have a Metz 58 AF-1, and it is very, very nice! In a local magazine test they found this and a similar Nissim to be the best, much better than Nikon's and Canon's flashes!
Nissin does seem to make nice products. If you're interested, I encourage you to write them asking for Pentax versions.

Nissin does make some nice flash units at good prices, but not for Pentax.

Why not Pentax's own, say AF540FGZ?
Its price at Adorama is $400 exactly, a few $ less than Metz 58.
That's almost double the price of the flashes mentioned in the original post.

The flashes the OP was asking about were:
The Sigma EF-530 Super
The Metz 48 AF-1P
and the Dörr/Soligor DAF42/480 Ultra.

Er, yes. That's why I encourage people who are interested to write to the company expressing interesting in purchasing future products which would be made for Pentax, were such products to be made. Which they might, if there were enough interest.

Blah blah blah ...

I've misread the first number and thought he's after Metz 58AF flash, not 48AF.
If you've read the thread, you'd perhaps understood the confusion.

A long list of issues for the Pentax flash units, even for the top model, as mentioned by numerous owners.

See I know this, without owning something because others have. The reason for a forum like this is to share information, useful information, whether it is good or bad. A forum is not just to make each other happier about their purchases by only praising their purchasing and "shooting messengers" who raise negative issues (what can really help others).
