Hello, so as you know (or might not lol) I recently bought an NEX 5N. It was clearance stock from Jessops and it dawned on me last night to test and see if there was that clicking noise. I was pretty annoyed to find there was unfortantely.

Ive got two options..seeing as it is clearance I can't get an exchange but Jessops will give me a full refund.

Secondly I could send it in to get repaired. Im not sure whether to get a refund and wait to get new stock...or even wait for the new NEX coming out, or just get it repaired..and whats the success rate for any that got theirs repaired?

I have seen only a few threads in the last 6 months from people complaining about the click repair service. The process went just swell for me and the clicking is gone. I suspect most people have pleasing results from the repair service, but that doesn't mean it's a slam dunk to be trouble free. If I bought a new NEX-5N today and it clicked then I would send it in for the repair without hesitation.

To ask the obvious question which should help give you an answer:

Will the clicking affect how you intend to use the camera?

If no, then just enjoy it and the clicking won't interfere (for example, if you don't intend to shoot video).

If yes, then get it fixed - there haven't been any complaints on the fixes, it seems to help quite a bit, and if you're going to be shooting a lot of video you're going to want that clicking out of the way.

As someone who will never enter video mode unless I accidentally press the button, I've never checked if my NEX-5N clicks, and can't really be bothered to, since it will never affect me.

Thanks alot for your response, that is reassuring, I will send it in then.

Hi, Thanks for your response. Yes video is pretty important to me, something that drew me to the NEX as it is fantastic for both video and stills.

I will send it to Sony ASAP...though Im having trouble navigating through their repair service....

Don't worry about it. I sent mine to a (hungarian) Sony Service a month ago, and it was sent back to me after a week, without any clicking voice, scratch and trouble. :)

..and, I was heard an inside info, from a Sony employee, that the new models made by similar plan like the earlier, just them are repaired in the factory in Thailand.

Awesome thank you :D

I just got the instructions to send it back, so will do that!
