Hello everyone,

Hope you are doing well.

I was trying to import some .fff files that I have from a Hasselblad workshop, but Lightroom won't import them. So I am trying Hasselblad Phocus, and it can load them fine. But the software is not very friendly. The thumbnails have some small icons on them, and hovering the mouse on top of them won't say anything. So, I'm hoping someone who uses Phocus or have some knowledge about the software can help.

They have these small icons on them, and I have no idea what they mean.

Any help is appreciated. Also, is there any way to make LR work with them? Or do I have to export dng / tiff for LR?

Many thanks in advance.

Those are apparently multishot files. LrC probably does not support them yet.

The little icons indicate editing operations that have been applied and stored in the FFF.

See page 29 in the Phocus Manual (accessible from Phocus's Help menu).

You need to export them as TIFFs to be processed using external tools.

Hi Manzur,

If you want to process the FFF files in Lr, you must first import the files into Phocus.
Phocus will convert the files and make 3FR files form them, accessible for LR.
You do not need to make any further conversions.

Simply import the the images into LR from the folder that Phocus saved the files into.

Be aware that if you want the HNCS processing to be maintained, you have to either stay in Phocus or export the images as TIFF files for editing in LR or PS (or other software).

LR does NOT provide the same processing as Phocus. Colour and contrast will never be identical no matter what you do in LR.

To toggle between a small thumbnail and a large image, toggle this icon circled in red:

Thank you. Yes, they are multi-shot files, is that what the numbers 4 or 6 means? number of shots taken for the multi-shot?

Going to look into the manual, thank you very much.

Thank you Mads. I can't seem to find the option to convert them to 3fr, I looked into the export option, is that where I should look? no 3fr option here.

Thank you. Yes, I know HNCS is only available on Phocus, for these images, I probably won't need them. For some portraits, yes will export tiff first.

Hi Manzur,

If you want to process the FFF files in Lr, you must first import the files into Phocus.
Phocus will convert the files and make 3FR files form them, accessible for LR.
You do not need to make any further conversions.
It is the other way around: Phocus converts 3FR files to FFF. Adobe can handle FFF and 3FR files unless it is a multishot FFF file.
Simply import the the images into LR from the folder that Phocus saved the files into.

Thank for the correction, I always get that mixed up.

I strongly suggest you watch the Hasselblad webinar about Phocus that is available via a link on their website.

It is a bit of a marathon, but explains all aspects of the software and will give you the skill set you need to go forward.
