A7C writing to memory card not completed error! Any solution?

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well.

I am having some issues with my new memory card. This error message comes up frequently "writing to the memory card not completed correctly. Recover data?"

If I select enter or cancel, the message goes away, but then it comes back again after a while. Is this a camera software glitch or is there something wrong with the memory card? The card works fine on another camera, no issues.

If anyone here experienced this, please share your experience and how to get rid of this issue.

Just return the card and get yourself a working one.

Yes, formatted fine. Tried with another camera, worked without any errors.

Yes, formatted fine. Tried with another camera, worked without any errors.

Do other cards work in this camera?

You might try using a rocket blower to dislodge any dust that might have collected in the card slot. You might also use a microfiber cloth to clean the electrical contacts on the card.

If none of that works, I'd replace the card.

Did you do the "normal" formatting or the "full" one which would be the better test here for sure?
(Note: I assume the A7C has this option, my A7CII and A7IV do)
How to get there:
MENU → (Shooting) → [Media] → [Format] →If you then press the (Delete) button, a message to perform full formatting should be displayed. You can launch full formatting by selecting [Enter].

Have you tried with another SD-card then?

I tried another Sabrent UHS-II V60 card today, after a while, the same error came up. Both of the cards work fine with another camera (Tried on Fujifilm and Sigma cameras), even did full card write / read on PC, no issues at all. Only on the A7C, this problem keeps happening.

UHS-I card worked fine on the A7C. I do not have another UHS-II card on hand so not sure if this is UHS-II related or just a problem with camera.

I also did a setting reset and initialized the camera. Firmware 2.0 installed, which is from 2021. No new firmware available.
