My 7D consistently BACKFOCUSES considerably

..this backfocus problem is a bug in only a few cameras, for what I've seen up to now. It doesn't seem to be a camera consistent "disease"!
I tested my 7D shooting a 48" ruler focusing with the center point
at the 10", 20" and 30" marks. I did that with three lenses:
Minolta 50/f1.7, Minolta 100-300/f4.5-5.6 APO and Tamron
24-135/f3.5-5.6. All at ISO 800, no flash, AS on.
All shots came out with perfect focus at the target points.

Below is one example tanken with the Tamron at 75mm and f5.6 where the target focus was at the 30"mark.

My camera was checked out by my dealer here in Portland - Advance Camera. They have an excellent shop and while their scopes did not find a problem they could see it with their eyes. Odd - so much for technology.

Advance Camera immediately called their west coast KM rep who said this was the first he had heard but that he would immediately exchange the camera - no questions asked.

A new one is on its way with the Advance Camera shipment due here early next week. With luck I won't see a repeat the of the problem and I will get the pleasure of opening a 7D box again.
